Every step of Vivaan towards his destination had a new jump, powered by the flame of hope that was reignited and fueled by the tender words of ardor, amour and ardent affection in the letter from the woman who held the reins of his life since he could remember.
Sense of disbelief which was hidden in the darkest recesses of his heart was peaking out daringly when he could not find any trace of the subject of his most beautiful dreams and the worst nightmares. An overwhelming sense of dread and anticipation followed as his eyes fervently searched for any sign of his beloved.
"Searching for someone?" she chirped, mischievous humor lacing her tone, making him snap his head in her direction.
"What are you doing up there, Vrinda? How did you even climb the tree?" demanded Vivaan, rushing towards the aforementioned mango tree in her letter. Concern and panic replaced the soothing sensation that had previously flooded him upon receiving her invite.
"You know, when you were helping me walk a few months and told me that I used to love climbing trees and stealthily taking the fruits, I had wanted to scare you by climbing over this tree someday, and today I finally got the chance," she replied, smirking triumphantly and mischievously at him as he shook his head in disbelief before allowing a knowing smile to play on his lips.
"So, are you going to descend down or is this how the meet is going to be?" he asked, locking his chocolate brown eyes glistening with anticipation with her eyes, resembling the molten gold, gleaming with the swirl of love and ecstasy which he was waiting to see with bated breath.
She placed her palms over his broad shoulders and his strong arms went around her automatically, helping her descend without interrupting the frenzy embrace of their eyes. As she steadied herself onto her feet, she guided him to take his seat beside her under the shade of the mango tree, overlooking the small pond beside the tree.
"I know that it is selfish to crave to be everyone's first priority, but I could not stop feeling devastated and depressed when I realized that those I had loved and cherished had not placed me high on their priority list. However, yesterday's events made me realize that it was not true. Priorities switch according to situations and it does not confirm that you are not important to someone," muttered Vrinda, fidgeting with his fingers in trepidation.
"You are important to every one of us, Vrinda. I am sorry if our actions ever failed to convey that," replied Vivaan, remorsefully, caressing the back of her head affectionately.
"It was in front of my eyes all these days and I only realized it off late. My orthodox father, who refused to share inheritance with his sister for being a female, did not want any other children because he wanted me to be his sole heir. My diligent mother, who never opposed my father, ensured that I could pursue my passion of dancing, even if it meant lying to my father. Vijay, who silently loved me for years, readily let go of me and his chance to marry me to make sure that I had a chance with you. And you," she paused, lifting her head to eye him straight in his eager eyes.
"Aadat Tho Tum Pehle Se Hi The, Vivaan, Aur Tum Zaroorat Aur Kamzori Bhi Ban Sakte The. Lekin Tum Meri Chaahat Aur Takaat Banna Chahe. Tumne Mujhe Iss Kadar Mukammal Karna Chaha Ki Bebas Ya Lachaar Hone Ke Wajah Se Main Tumhe Na Khojoo, Balki Isiliye Dhundhoo Kyunki Tum Mere Dil Ki Sabse Ghehri Arzoo Aur Kamna Ban Gaye The. Pata Hi Nahi Chala Kab Iss Yatra Ke Dauran Tum Mere Dil Main Iss Tarah Samagaye Ki Aur Iss Prakar Ghar Kar Liya Tha Ki, Tumhare Bina Yaadon Ko Kya, Dil Dhadkna Bhi Bhool Jaye!" she exclaimed, smiling through her tears which freely flowed akin to the love that was let free from the constraints laid down by the mind.
"Vrinda, I had always yearned for your happiness more than our togetherness. How would I ever bring himself to hope to see you in misery in anticipation that you would be more inclined to want me back in your life that way?" he earnestly questioned, erasing the rain which showered through the windows of her heart.
"Vivaan Tho Krishna Ka Naam Hai. Unn Ke Bina Tho Vrindavan Bhikar Gaya Aur Viraan Ho Gaya Tha, Jinke Anupastithi Main Radha Toot Gayi Thi, Aur Main Tho Vrinda Bhi Hoon Aur Radha Bhi, Apne Vivaan Ke Bina Mera Dil Kaise Sambhalta Aur Main Apni Mann Ki Shanti Kaise Nahi Khoti? You could have pushed me further into the darkness of oblivion while showing yourself as the beautiful mirage, but you chose to reveal the truth about our past," she chuckled mirthlessly, sighing deeply as she reminisced the first few months after she had risen from her coma.
"Vihaan. The first ray of the morning. You had chosen an apt name. After all, you had always been the harbinger of light into my dark life. If I choose to punish you for prioritizing Sucheta Kaki over me because of my parents, I will be doing the same mistake as you did, and that will be despite knowing the pain of not being important to someone. Promise me that you will never leave my side again," she asked, placing her palms over his hands which were gently cupping her face.
"Never. I will be forever yours and by your side," vowed Vivaan, pressing his lips against her forehead. His gentle touch soothed her and paradoxically made her heart race like never before.
"So, tonight is the night when you finally allow the moon to grace the street, now that your wish turned into reality," asked Vivaan, smirking teasingly at her, referencing the stanza she had chosen to dance on the first day of their practice.
Vrinda chuckled warmly before a smirk developed on her face. "Well, maybe not tonight. Because someone has to prove their theory to me tonight. Aisa Fitoor Dekhke Kahi Chand Sharma Na Jaye," she teased, wrapping her arms around his waist as she erased distance between them suggestively.
Vivaan's smirk deepened as he realized what she meant. "Oh, yes! Thank you for reminding! Are you ready to lose, dear Vrinda?"
"I have already lost my heart and peace to you, what's left to lose anyways? Besides, every defeat of mine in your hands is akin to a resounding victory. So bring it on!" she answered, before capturing his lips with hers in a frenzy kiss.
Life came around in a full circle as they began their new journey with each other under the shade of same mango tree where their journey began together as infants who leaned on each other for support to take their first steps, and they could only hope that their journey together would incessantly progress till their last step.

That completes the story of Vivaan and Vrinda. I hope that you liked reading the story as much as I liked writing this. This story would always be very special to me for being my first original story, my first completed original story, and for having all my favorite songs in it. I would love to know your views about the ending!

Translation: You were my habit since the beginning, Vivaan, and you could have become my necessity and weakness as well. But you chose to become my desire and strength. You wanted me to become so self-sufficient and complete that I would not have to search for you because of my helplessness or destitution, I would search for you because you had become my deepest desire and earnest wish. I did not realize that in the course of our journey, I had homed you in my heart in a manner that without you, my heart would not just have forgotten memories but also how to beat.
Vivaan Tho Krishna Ka Naam Hai. Unn Ke Bina Tho Vrindavan Bhikar Gaya Aur Viraan Ho Gaya Tha, Jinke Anupastithi Ne Radha Toot Gayi Thi, Aur Main Tho Vrinda Bhi Hoon Aur Radha Bhi, Apne Vivaan Ke Bina Mera Dil Kaise Sambhalta Aur Main Apni Mann KI Shanti Kaise Nahi Khoti?
Translation: Vivaan, one of the names of Lord Krishna. The one without whom Vrindavan withered away, and one whose absence broke Radha from within, and I am named after both of them. How would my heart not lose its peace without my Vivaan?
Aisa Fitoor Dekhke Kahi Chand Sharma Na Jaye
Translation: Hope the moon does not shy away seeing this passion.
