Chapter 3: Dragon's Keep

*March 3, 2026*

Iz had told Grant about a dungeon in the mountains but she also said it has one of the strongest bosses on the first floor. So now he was currently sprinting towards the location of the dungeon. Thanks to his high agility though he was going to be there in under twenty minutes.

*Meanwhile back at the Starting city*

Sinon had finished up doing what she needed to do in Gun Gale and decided to long into New World Online to play with Grant. She was currently walking around looking for him when she sees Maple. "Hey Maple. Have you seen Kakōgan?" She asked Maple and Maple looks at her. "Huh? Oh hey Sinon. Yeah I have actually. He was here a little while ago but you just missed him. He just left to challenge a dungeon in the mountain area of the game." Maple told her and her eye twitches slightly. "He's what?" She asked looking really mad and Maple looked scared and when Sinon noticed she relaxed a bit. "Sorry about scaring you Maple. It's just that he promised me that he wouldn't do something reckless." Sinon explained and she nods. "Oh I see. Well why is challenging a dungeon reckless? I mean his stats are amazing!" Maple said and Sinon raised an eyebrow. "He showed you his stats?" Sinon asked surprised and Maple nods. "Yeah. I had no clue you could move your avatar to different games like that!" Maple said and Sinon nods. Suddenly a male voice spoke up. "Hey Maple." It said and Maple looks at him. "Oh hey Kuromu. What's up?" Maple said to him. "Not much. Who's your friend?" He asked and Maple looks at Sinon. "Oh this is Sinon. Sinon this is Kuromu. He's a great shielder like me." Maple said smiling as she introduced the two. Sinon greeted him and then decided to wait for Grant to get back.

*Back to Grant*

Grant had made it inside of the dungeon. Grant had his sword ready as he went deeper into the cave. He then noticed a lizard like monster rush out at him from the shadows and he managed to side step it and slice it's head off.  "Seems like the monsters here prefer ambush tactics. I better keep my guard up." He muttered to himself. Soon he had made it to a set of wooden doors. "This must be the boss room." He said before approaching the doors. He then pushed one open and entered the room. As he walked further into the room the door behind him suddenly slammed shut. He turned to look at it then turned around and was met by a large dragon roaring at him. "Oh so this must be the boss. It's health bar is quite large!" Grant said getting into a combat stance. The dragon then used it's breath attack against him and he dodged it and charged the dragon and jumped doing a slash attack across it's side doing a bit of damage to it. "Whoa. That attack didn't do much damage. This thing really is hard core!" He said with a smile. He then spent about an hour in a half fighting the dragon and had used up several healing items in the fight. Grant landed on the ground after landing another successful hit but he was panting softly. "Nearly two hours of this and I've still yet to beat it!" He said looking at it's health bar which was in the red. He then looked at his own hp and saw that his was closed to red as well. "Last one." He said sighing softly as he used his last health potion. "I need to end this here and now!" Grant said and got ready to strike again. The Dragon finally recovered from the last attack and went to attack him and Grant jumped just as it's hand slammed into the ground where he was standing previously and Grant used the opportunity to strike it's neck. It roared and fell over to the ground and Grant landed and watched as it turned into purple crystal like data and revealing a chest. He sat on the ground panting softly. "Geez if I known it's neck was a weak point I would have hit it more often!" He said recovering his breath. He then got a notification saying that he had gone up by 4 levels and was now level 22. He then stood up and walked over to the chest. "Okay now let's see what we've got in here!" He said opening the chest. Inside of the chest was a set of gear and sword.

He looks at the name and stats of the gear. "Huh so the clothes are called the Dragon King lvl 1 set. By sacrificing skill points to the dragon the lvl of the gear will increase." He said reading the info. "Oh cool not only is it a limited set it's also indestructible!" He said smiling. He then pulled up the swords stats. "So the sword is called Dragon's Bane lvl 1 and has the same ability as the armor huh? Oh it seems that the sword also has a 5 percent chance of inflicting fire damage and it seems that it will rise whenever the swords level rises." He said looking at it. "Hmm well since I already have a good bit of points stored up let's go ahead and split them between the two." He said smiling. When he finished he got a notification that his gear was raised to lvl 4 while his sword was raised to lvl 3 and now has a fifteen percent chance of inflicting fire damage. He smiled happy with his new gear and headed back to town and to Iz's shop only to run into Sinon who instantly started yelling at him for going to a dungeon by himself.
