Chapter 13

Her eyes fluttered open and she rolled onto her back, soaking up the feeling of the soft bed and warm covers around her. She lay there for a few minutes, taking in the stream of light that came through the curtains and the peace and quiet she had never been able to experience.

Looking over to the clock on the wall across from her bed, it read 8:30. Reluctantly, she removed the covers from her body and made her way to the bathroom to take a shower and brush her teeth.

Once she was done in the bathroom, she checked the calendar and noticed that her period would be coming up in a few days, she would need to go shopping today. She put on a pair of black jeans and a grey T-shirt, with black converse. She went to the kitchen and enjoyed some breakfast while sitting at the kitchen island.

She got up, cleared her dishes away and grabbed her bag, put her wand along with her purse in the bag then grabbed her keys and made her way to the door. As she pulled the door open, her eyes widened in confusion.

"Good morning?" She said hesitantly, tilting her head to the side slightly - a small smile making it's way to her face.

"Morning, going somewhere ?" He asked, gaze running over her body making her involuntarily shiver. His eyes snapped up to meet hers, slight smirk gracing his features eyebrows raising slightly.

"I uhm, I'm going out for some groceries. Come with me, we could get some coffee on the way ?" She said brightly, stepping out of her apartment, closing and locking the door behind her.

"Sounds good, like a little date." He said teasingly, making a blush creep up to her face, her smile faltering for a second.

They walked down the hall and got in the elevator when she decided to speak up. "Why are you here Severus ?" It came out a bit harsher than what was intended but he didn't seem to mind when he just shrugged his shoulders.

There was a coffee shop a 5 minute walk away from her apartment, on the way to the supermarket. The coffee shop itself was cute, there were booths lining the walls and small tables littering the remaining space.

They made their way to the counter to order, the cashier was a boy that was around her age maybe a year or two older with a sweet smile on his face.

"Hello, what could I get you?" He asked looking at her.

"Hi, I'll take a cappuccino please," She said smiling back at him then turned to face Severus,

"What are you - going to get ?" She asked tensing when she felt his arm snake around her waist while looking up at the menu then to the boy behind the counter, face blank and eyes cold,

"I'll just get a black coffee and a chocolate donut." He replied looking down at her for a second then training his gaze on the boys shocked expression. She stared at him for a few seconds before frowning and asking,

"But you dont like sweet things."

"You're right, I dont, but you do" he said looking back at her and smiling. Her face lit up and a blush made it's way to her cheeks.

Then the boy cleared his throat and they both looked back at him, he still had a smile on his face but his eyes were judging. Of course he would be, she was wearing casual clothes and was almost 18 while Severus had slacks and a button up shirt on and was in his twenties.

She ignored the look he gave Severus's arm around her waist and said, "That's all for us thanks" while getting her purse out and paying for the coffee and donut.

They took a seat at one of the booths when she spoke up, "What was that all about?" She asked smirk on her lips.

"What do you mean?" He questioned looking at her from across the table.
