Chapter 13: Vacation Activities

I wrote a story about Rebecca's first Christmas with Jen and the rest of the cast so yeah read that as well but it has a spoiler for this one.

In the morning, when I woke, I was laid in Jared's bed and in the clothes I had worn yesterday. I couldn't see Jared until sat up and then I saw him. He was lying on the ground. I got off of the bed and softly shook him to wake him up. After a few moments he began to stir and then awoke. "Morning Becca." He said sleepily.

"Morning, why are you laying on the ground?" I asked him.

"Well," he began. "You fell asleep last night after we spoke and I didn't have the heart to wake you but I also didn't want Jen to come in during the night and see us sleeping together in my bed. So I slept on the floor."

"Well, that was very sweet." I told him "But if that ever happens again, please just wake me up."

He agreed and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I then left the room to go and change and brush my teeth as I needed to go downstairs to breakfast. When I opened the door to my room I noticed that Bailee was already sat on my bed. “So where you this morning?” She asked me “It is only 8AM and from the few days I have been here I have realised that you don’t get out of bed before 9AM at the earliest. So, where were you?”

“I slept in Jared’s room. I slept on the bed and he slept on the ground.” I explained to her. The more I explained the more excited she seemed to get.

“So you two made up then did you?” She squealed excitedly.

“Yeah, we did.”

“Good” She said “Now get different clothes on. We need to go and get some breakfast. Ginny is making bacon sandwiches.”With that she bounded out of my room quickly. I went and changed, today I put on a white t-shirt from a band I liked and put on a pair of black shorts and with that I went downstairs.

“Good morning Rebecca!” Colin bellowed when he saw coming into the kitchen.

“Good morning Colin” I replied. Then I went and grabbed a plate and served myself some of the bacon from the frying pan that was on the rack. I then went outside to the backyard where everyone was sitting and eating. “Morning everyone.” I said as I began to eat. “So, what are we going to do today?”

“Well I was thinking that we could go and spend the day at the beach. There is so much you can do there.” Ginny said.

“True” Jen agreed “Oh and Becca can come with Jared, Bailee and I.”

“Where are you guys going?” I asked her.

“We are going snorkelling and then Colin is going to join us for the surfing lesson we have this afternoon.” Jen explained.

I agreed to go with them and then went upstairs to get dressed in my swimsuit. I wore a bikini that Emilie had picked out when we went shopping before we left LA. I was so excited. We could never afford to go on a vacation when I was with my parents so we had never done any of the things that we were going to do today.

It only took about 10 minutes for everyone to be ready to go to the beach and then we split into our two groups and walked to our destinations. Jen, Bailee, Jared and I all walked towards a little hut that was near the shore line, inside the hut was snorkels, flippers and other thing I suppose must be useful when you run this type of business.

When we were snorkelling we saw many fish and Jared kept making me look around at him where he would be doing something stupid. After around an hour we got out of the water and Jen went and got us an ice cold drink from the store across the pier. We drank them on our way back to the others. When we got back Lana and Emilie were sunbathing whilst Robert was sat in his sun lounger beneath an umbrella. Josh and Colin were in the ocean playing with Oliver who was in one of those inflatable baby toys whilst Ginny was taking pictures of them.

Jen told us to relax for a little bit and to put on some sunscreen whilst she went and got Josh and Colin so that we could all go to lunch as a small cafe down the street. Bailee got Ginny to help her with her sunscreen on her back whilst Jared insisted that he would be the one who helped me with mine. After he had finished putting on the sunscreen on my back I laid on my front on the spare towel that was laid next to Emilie.

After a few minutes Jen, Colin and Josh all came out of the ocean and helped us to pack up most of our things since most of the others would be going back to the house after lunch. The cafe was small as Jen had described but it had extremely nice food. I just got a burger because I wasn’t very hungry, even after our snorkelling adventure.

After we finished we all began to walk back to the spot on the beach that we were at before and them Emilie, Lana, Robert, Josh and Ginny all began to walk away from us and back to the house. The rest of us all went back to hut from earlier where a young man, who can’t have been much older than me, was waiting for us. “Hey Guys” said the man “My name is Kale and I will be your surfing instructor today. Have you all been surfing before?”

Jen was standing behind me and she was the one who began to answer him. “Most of us have but Rebecca here, hasn’t.” She told him.

“Okay, that’s great you guys will all be able to help her if she is struggling. So, all of you choose a board and meet me outside.” With that Kale left the hut.  

I didn’t know how to decide on which board I needed so after everyone had picked I was just left there standing awkwardly. After a few moments Jared came back in. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked. “Why haven’t you picked a board?”

“I don’t know how to pick a board. I have never had to before.” I told him. Then he picked up a board and told me that it was a good beginner board. Then we went outside to join the others.

“So guys you can all start to surf on your own but if one of you want to stay with Rebecca then of course you can.” Kale said and just as Jen was about to say that she would stay with me, Jared blocked her and instead stepped forward himself.

“I will stay with Becca. Me. I will” He said very quickly.

“Okay dude, calm down” Kale told Jared.

As I was learning to surf Jared kept making me laugh but after a very long time I was able to stand on the board and move on it with the waves. “Well done Becca” Jen shouted.

“Yay” Bailee cheered.

“Nice one lass” Colin yelled.

After the lesson was over we walked back to the house where we found everyone out by the pool. They all asked me about my first surfing lesson and were all quite surprised when I told them I was able to stand. I went and changed into a tank top and shorts for dinner. We had pasta then Emilie had made when we were at our lesson.

After that all except Jen and Ginny went to our rooms. Jared and I waited until Bailee had gone inside her room. “So did you have fun today Becca?” He asked me.

“Yeah it was a really good day.” I told him.

“I’m glad.” With that he kissed my cheek and turned to his room. I watched him go into his room and then I went into my own.  I was happy when I went to sleep that night. Today was a good day.
