Chapter 17: Overprotective

I was woken up the next morning by Jen telling me to get up because Jared would be over soon. I looked at my clock and it was 8:43AM. Jared would be here in about a quarter of an hour so I really needed to get up. I got out of bed, brushed my teeth, did my hair and threw on some clothes. I put my hair into a braid and put on a pair of jeans, a baggy plain shirt and put a grey wooly cardigan on top. I also put on fluffy socks since I hoped we weren't leaving the house this morning.

I left my room and stopped by the kitchen. I grabbed a pancake that Jen must have made when I was still in bed. I went into the lounge and laid back down on the couch next to Jen. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. "I'll get the door." Jen said before she walked towards the door. "Hey Jared, come and sit with Becca, I need to talk to you." They walked into the lounge and Jared waved to me and sat down next to my feet, where Jen had  been sat earlier. "I have to go to the office but you guys can still hang out here. Becca here is your new house key, I had my assistant get it made for you yesterday. It opens the front door, the patio doors, the gate to the back yard and the pool house. Jared throw your bag in the spare room. If you guys leave the house callme to tell me where you are going and Becca use your new key to lock the doors. If you need me calle me, now I have to go, bye guys."

With that she left the house and it was just me and Jared left in the house. "So what do you want to do today?" He asked me.

"We could spend some time in the back yard, at the pooland then we can decide what to do this afternoon late." I suggested.

"Good idea. I'm going to go and get into my swimsuit so that we can go to the pool." He told me and then he left for the spare room, taking his bag with him. I went to my own room and put on my bikini that I had used when we were in Hawaii, it was red. I went back down and saw that the door to the back yard was already open and that Jared was already in the pool.

"Come on Becca, the water is warm." He shouted.

"Okay" I shouted back. "I will just get us some drinks from the kitchen." I went and pulled out two plastic cups, since Jen told me that we don't use glass aorund the pool. I brought the out to him and saton the side of the pool. I put my feet in the water and he was right, the water was warm.

I got into the pool after a few minutes of getting used tothe water and Jared came over from where he was treading water."Don't get my hair wet Jared!" I screamed as he began to splash me. He poured waterall iver my head using his hands. "Jared!" I screamed, but I don't think he took me seriously because I was also laughing when I was saying it. When I stopped screaming Jared grabbed me and kissed me. "What was that for?" I asked him.

"You looked pretty." He said as if it was completely obvious.

"Do you want to go and get Starbucks, the is a store down the street." I told him.

"Yeah go get changed and I will dry off, throw on a shirt and call Jen to tellher where we are going." He agreed.

I went to my room and grabbed a towel. I put my wet hair into a top knot and put back on the clothes from earlier and put on my military boots on as well. I went back downstairs and Jared was sat on the couch. "Did you call Jen?" I asked him.

"Yeah, she said it was fine and told me to remind you to lock the door." He replied.

"Okay thanks." I grabbed my wallet and my keys and we left the house. We walked to Starbucks and got our drinks and a girl about our age stopped us.

"You're Jared Gilmore and you're Rebecca Jackson! I can't believe I met you guys. Are you guys dating?" She squeeled excitedly.

"Well," Jared began, "It's kind of a secret so you can't tell anyone but unfortunately we aren't dating but she is one of the best people I have ever met. We aren't dating because she is way out of my league."

When he said that I couldn't stop myself I laced my fingers with his and rested my head on his shoulder. "He's right." I said. "His league is way higher than mine." He didn't say anything but Icould feel him shaking his head and kissing my head. We left the store and began to walk home. We were holding hands all our way home and when we gotback to the house we watched a movie and at some point during the movie we must have fell asleep.

Jen woke us up when she got home. "Hey Jared can you go upstairs? I need to talk to Becca."

"Yeah sure, good night Becca." He said as he kissed my cheek.

"I saw an interesting picture of you today." I must have looked confused because she continued. "It was you and Jared walking home. You looked sweet together to be honest, but it is all over the internet. Someone must have seen you on your way home and taken a photo." I couldn't help but smile.

"I should go to bed." I said "Night Jen."

"Night Becca."

So now everyone knew Jared and I were dating since I guess that's what we were doing now. Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing.
