I took a glance all around the place. I saw nothing. No people, no plants and no animals. I was left alone by myself. The only things I had with me were a ground beneath my feet and a sky above my head.

“Hello!” I yelled only to receive back the echo of my own voice.
I was confused and scared. Hence, I decided to stay still, until someone finds me in that isolated environment. Luckily, my prayers were answered. I saw a silhouette approaching me. I could not get a clear view of the person. I waited for him or her to approach, but, he stopped about six metres away. I could still not see the person clearly.

“Excuse me! Can you help me please? I’m lost!” I shouted loud enough for the person to hear me.

“where do you need to go?” The person shouted back.

I could conclude that the person six metres away from me was a man from his voice. I felt relieved to finally have someone in that deserted place. I took out a piece of paper from the pocket of my coat. That piece of paper was given to me by a man in the hospital where I was admitted after the car accident.

I opened the paper and read out the address aloud.

“The left lane.”

The address was weird, but I didn’t care much. I just wanted to get back to my parents as soon  as possible.

“Why do you want to go there?” The man asked.

“Because my parents have moved there.” I replied.

That’s what the man had told me back in the hospital when I regained consciousness.

“Follow me!” The man shouted and he started to walk away.

I quickly made my way behind him. We kept on walking for a long time. I tried to walk faster, yet, I couldn’t catch up with the man. Throughout the whole journey, I couldn’t see any other person. I guessed that my parents had found a place where neither police nor any other human can find us.

As I walked, I felt the ground becoming hotter and hotter.
“Are we there yet?” I shouted.
However, I got no response.

Finally, I saw a huge building. It was unpainted. Its walls were cracked and looked like an old building. I could see spider webs and dirt everywhere as I came closer to it. The man had stopped just in front if the huge door of the building. I was finally standing behind him. The man was wearing a long black coat that reached to his toes and his head was covered with a hoodie. He was holding a long stick.

“Is this the place my parents chose?” I asked with disgust.

The man said nothing.

Suddenly, I heard screams. They were coming from the building. I was feeling hotter now and those cries were very disturbing. As if, someone was crying in pain.

“What’s happening? Why did my parent choose to move here, in such a creepy place.” I asked, now, with fear.

“It’s about to get creepier.” The man finally talked, but, this time, with a grumpy voice.

The man slowly turned around to face me and I peed my pants on the spot when I realized the man was none other than the grim reaper.

I could see his skeletal figure and the stick he was carrying was actually his scythe. I was terrified.

“Why are you so shocked? After the crime you committed on earth, hell is the only place you can move to.” He said.

A flashback instantly ran through my mind. I remembered how me and my parents had kidnapped a little girl in order to receive ransom money. We were broke and my father had lost his job. All his applications were getting rejected. We had a lot of loans to pay together with my college fees. I was so frustrated that I had myself given the idea of kidnapping a rich girl who used to study in the same class as mine. I was jealous of her because she was the popular girl in college. We had been successful in kidnapping her, but everything didn’t go as per our plan. We found out that the girl’s parents had informed the police, so, we killed her without any remorse. Since the police had been successful in tracking our whereabouts, we had to run away. We had left the body of the girl in our secret cottage itself and we had decided to move to a new apartment in Florida.

Unfortunately, on our way to Florida, my parents and I got into a serious car accident. We were taken to the hospital quickly. After a few hours in the hospital, when I regained consciousness, I searched for my parents but I could not find them. I asked every doctors and nurses of the hospital but no one paid attention to me. I kept on searching until finally I met a man. He had his hoodie on and he was holding a stick. I could see him from the back only. He gave me a piece of paper and told me that my parents have moved to this address and I need to go there too.

Realisation hit me on the spot. The man who gave me that piece of paper was the one who was standing in front of me – the reaper.

“What does this mean?” I stammered. My whole body was shaking with terror.

“That you’re dead.” The reaper said.

The door of that huge building opened and what I saw first were my parents who were on fire. It was them who were screaming with pain the whole time. They were burning to ashes, but they did not die. They kept on burning. Fire spread all around the corners of the building. And I could see people, including my parents, suffering in blaze.

Tears started to fall down my cheeks. I was so scared that my whole body fell numb.

“Welcome to your new home! Hell!” The reaper exclaimed and pushed me inside.
