My classes ended at 3:30pm, but I was waiting at the bus stop for Even to come, so we could buy beers for tomorrow's party. The second I checked the time on my phone, I got a text from Mahdi.

"You're always texting aren't you?" I heard Even's voice behind me

"You're always texting aren't you?" I heard Even's voice behind me. I turned around "Only when I'm the beer person." We laughed. Our bus came and we got on. The shop we, or he was buying beers from was only a stop away, so we didn't bother to sit. The bus driver didn't say anything, which made me wonder if Even had made that up so I would sit next to him. No, why would he. I'm delusional. The bus stopped and we got off, which made me realise that we hadn't said a word to each other on the way. "You just wait here. If a minor comes to buy beers with me it seems suspicious." So I waited outside of the shop for a good 10 minutes. *ding* I checked my phone. It was an unknown text.

I heard the shop door open behind me and I turned around

I heard the shop door open behind me and I turned around. "Let me guess. You're texting again?" Even laughed. "Yeah. Actually, I got a text from the hostess of the party." I stuttered. "Is this your first party?" Even looked shocked and laughed. "No. I mean at this school, yes." I mumbled, "All the other parties I've been to were not very welcoming." I said laughing. "Oh" he looked surprised. He handed me the beers and started walking towards a bench. "You coming?" he asked. I just followed him. He took out a cigarette from his jacket pocket, followed by a lighter. "Do you smoke?" he asked. "I have, but not really as a regular thing." I said. He sat on the bench and I sat next to him. "Here" he handed me the cigarette he had just lit. I took it. I must have looked like an idiot because I started coughing after one blow. He looked at me and I could see he was holding in his laugh. "Oh shut up" I said laughing. He started laughing too. "So, what did the hostess of the party want?" he asked mockingly. "Well actually, she said I could bring a friend to the party.." I looked at the ground, scared for what he was going to say next. He started laughing, "Awwe, am I your friend?" I looked at him and mumbled "Do you want to come or not?" "No, sure I'll be there." He took the unlocked phone from my hands and added himself as a contact. "Text me the info." he said all serious again. He stood up. I gulped, "Uh yeah of course." He said bye and started walking.

I threw the cigarette in the cigarette bin and headed for the bus stop with the bag of beers in my hand. When I got home my mom was drinking a big glass of wine, laying on the couch. I hid the beers in my school bag. "Where have you been?" she mumbled. I could tell she was drunk again. "Just with a friend mom. I think you've had enough of that." I said comforting. She grabbed the bottle from my hand. "You don't tell me what to do!" she yelled. She stood up, barely holding herself up. "I can drink as much as I want!" she sang. I could feel the tears running down my cheeks. "Nobody is hiring me to sing anywhere" she said, laughing so loud I'm sure the neighbours in the motel could hear her. "I have no life since your dad left me, I've got nothing to lose!" She sat back down on the couch. She laid down, dropping the wine glass on the ground. I should've flinched from the sound of the glass breaking, but I was used to it. Mom fell asleep. I got a mop and cleaned the broken glass. I then threw all the bottles in the big trash outside of the motel, even if they were still full. *ding* I checked my phone.

I smiled a little

I smiled a little. If my mom found out my dad had recently been sending me money, she'd freak out. That kind of stress is the last thing she needs right now, so I just leave some cash around the place we're staying at for her to find. I put my phone back in my pocket. As I was walking back inside I got another notification.

I just rolled my eyes

I just rolled my eyes. I was pissed off with how he was acting. I stuffed the phone in my pants pocket and just sat outside the motel room door crying. I was breathing heavily, I was angry with both my parents. *ding* "Agh!" I screamed expecting it to be  Dad again. It wasn't.

I wiped my tears away and smiled

I wiped my tears away and smiled. I accepted the friend request. He DM'ed me right away.

I went inside

I went inside. I hadn't slept for days because of the stress, but for a change I couldn't sleep because of the excitement. I can't wait for tomorrow's party. This might be different. I have friends, and I'm going to a party. Life is looking good.
