I don't know when I woke up, or fell asleep for that matter, but I woke up to Rika shaking me. I was still on the floor.
"Ms. Flint, why are you on the floor?"
"Cuz' I'm an idiot," I bit my cheek. My back was aching and my head hurt again.
"Breakfast is soon. Bakugou would like to talk to you before Elise Macintosh is awake," he told me in Japanese.
"Right," I nodded. He didn't seem to know much English, so I also spoke in Japanese. I was fluent because my mom lived in Japan and came back to New York knocked up with me, being half-Japanese, she thought it was fitting for me to know the language.
I stood up and began walking to the door, only to run into it. I had forgotten my glasses. Rika giggles before getting them off the floor and handing them to me.
My back felt slightly better now that I was standing, but I still had a throbbing headache. I walked down the hall way, dizzy. Rika led me to the kitchen, where Mr. Bakugou stood making breakfast. He wore normal clothes, sweatpants, t-shirt and...glasses? He wasn't wearing those yesterday.
"Ah, good," he looked up at me. I was still stuck at the glasses part. My mom never needed glasses, so I guess it never clicked that I would get horrible eye sight from...my dad. Thinking that felt weird. He was my dad...but also wasn't.
"There's something you wanted to talk about, sir?"
"Yeah, I want to go shopping later for you. You only have one bag of luggage and I think you might need more personal items too," he pulled the pan, which was loaded with eggs and bacon on it, off the stove and placed the food onto near by plates. "You okay with coming? I don't want you to be, like, completely uncomfortable in your room. I know how hard it can be moving suddenly to a new place and not feeling comfortable."
"Is that why you slept on the floor?" Rika piped in. "Are you not comfortable?"
"You slept on the floor?" Mr. Bakugou looked at me funny.
"I wasn't...uh..." How do you explain that you kinda hated the fact that you had to live with them...nicely? "I-I mean..."
"Good morning!" A wave of red flooded into the room. Elise had a red blouse on with a deep red skirt and had red lipstick to match her red hair. To me, she looked...tacky. She needed another color somewhere in there...
Mr. Bakugou frowned at the sight of her, Rika tighten his jaw and rolled his eyes. I was flooded with anxiety at the sight of her. Our conversation ringed in my ears and my cheek began to sting like she slapped me again. Stupid, I know. My lungs seemed to cling to my chest and my gaze snapped to the floor, scared to even speak anymore.
Mr. Bakugou, if he noticed, said nothing. No 'Good morning', no 'are you okay?'. Just a grunt.
"I'll...go with you later," I said quietly in Japanese, knowing that Elise didn't speak it, and left the room. Going to the dinning room and sitting alone, trying to calm myself.
