Within a week, we had gotten all my school needs and I was being driven to one of Tokyo's middle schools. Barred in a navy knee-length skirt, a white button up and a navy cardigan, ruby necklace safely on my neck.
When we parked out front, a couple children watched as I got out of the car and wished Rika goodbye. Nervous, I kept my head down and entered the building before being met with the Principal and his assistant.
"Ms. Flint!" he clapped my shoulder. I flinched. "You know where you're going?"
I nodded, unsure if I trusted myself not to break out in sobs. I was so scared. Schools got shot up all the time in America, who's to say that this place won't suddenly combust.
"Even so! This place is quite large and we don't need you getting lost, do we?" his assistant beamed, her hair bouncing.
Just like that, I was whisked away. Carried all the way to my first class. The principal went on and on about how amazing their school was, his assistant put in every once and while, but looked like she wanted to kill him. It didn't come on me until we were in front of the door, but they were sucking up to me because of Bakugou.
This unsettled me. I dunno why, but I wasn't anyone special. Sure, I was his kid but I'm nothing more.
Luckily, as he explained, he also told me that I had completely different classes from the rest of the school. There will be a few kids in my class, but nothing more. I'd still have maths, science and all that other junk, but I would have extra activities afterwards. Such as: super power training, the history of heroes, and visits from said heroes at times.
Once I stood in front of the room, the principal knocked and soon the door opened, showing a tall, black woman with casual wear on. Her hair was in dread-locks and the ends were dyed red, her eyes were a bright green that changed brown in the light. She had on a Red Riot hoodie and jeans, with black sneakers.
"OH! You must be Katsuki's girl?" she smiled brightly.
"Yup! This is Ground Zero's kid. She's the one transferring to your class," the assistant smiled.Moving out of the door way, she let me in and shut it before the principal could enter and bother anyone. She led me in front of the class and I saw four other people in class.
The one I saw first was a girl with golden hair and purple eyes. She beamed at me, and spoke to her friend. He looked at her and his face exploded with color. He had purple hair and was very tense. Another person looked tall, had glasses, dark blue hair and one grey eye and one vibrant blue one. The last one looked like an adult. She had blue hair and one lone horn on her head. She also had red eyes and was also in casual wear, having on a nice t-shirt and khakis.
"Everyone, This is Theodora Flint, Ground Zero's daughter," the teacher introduced.
"Hello," I didn't make eye contact as the teacher, who named herself Mrs. Nina Kirishima, told me to sit next to the boy with glasses.I really had no idea what I was getting into when we locked eyes.
School passed like a blur.
Since I was new, I wasn't allowed to really train with my power yet. I sat on the side, watching videos on how to safely fight. I saw that the kids in the class were very tight knitted. Yuko Togata, the bubbly blonde girl, Tamako Amajiki, the purple haired boy, and the last boy: Touya Iida were all very clingy. Always talking and laughing and being friends.
It's not like they didn't try and include me, I just wasn't good with kids my age. It's never been my strong suit. Because I grew up with my mom, who ran an antique shop, I was manly raised around her adult friends or clients. I was raised well, but kids my age were never into classic poetry or older things. I often kept to myself, which I never minded.
So, like back then, I declined offers to eat with them, stayed silent in class and often spoke to the assistant teacher, Eri Aizawa, the girl with the horn. She was passionate about teaching and didn't mind my quietness.
It was relatively normal for me. Bakugou and I were getting along and I was going to school like a normal kid. Until...The press found out about me.
As much as people fantasize about being a pro's kid or a pro hero, the press is something no one likes. I was kept under wraps for as long as possible, but people talk and some like to talk too much.
There were magazines of me and Bakugou eating, shopping and doing normal things with headlines like: "Ground Zeroes Secrete Child Survived The Bombing of Keira's Kitchen? How Will This Play Out?" It seemed like everyone knew my name and my story.
I had random people wanting photos with me, wanting to know my experiences living with Bakugou. "How does a Hero with an explosion power affect you?", "Does he blow up and yell at you?".
These people were bringing up my own life. My personal experiences and trying to get a reaction. Tears, laughter, anything. However, per Bakugou's instruction, I just passed them by. Not showing anything on my face, not saying a word.
But they took it too far...
"Ms. Flint! How does your Mother's death affect you and your father?" A camera and mic were shoved in my face. "Does he hate her? Do you talk about her? Why did she bring you to the restaurant?"
I snapped.
