That girl was getting on my nerves. It didn't take much to get on my nerves, but it was damn hard to hold back from killing the chick.
Every five seconds it was, "You look great today!", "How are you feeling?" and overall being bothersome. She was here for my kid yet was trying to get my attention. Damn gold digger.
How she treated my kid was another problem. Sass, insults and glares. Bitch didn't even care about her or what happens to her. I could get rid of Elise, but that'll get the kid is foster care, which wasn't happening. Though, it hadn't occurred to me that something really bad might've happened to the kid, needing her in my care. I figured it was temporary, but rubble? What rubble? Why was something of hers in a pile of rubble?
Anyways, when we entered the store, I saw Theodora pale. Her body was so stiff I thought she could've passed as a wall. Poor kid might've had something terrible happen. I looked up from my kid to Elise. She was running around, acting more like a kid then my actual kid. 'Ooo-ing' and 'ahh-ing' at everything.
Me and the kid stood there at the front of the store, Theo looking every which way, trying to figure out where to start and obviously not wanting to ask me. Sighing, I took a leap and began walking, she followed like I expected. Leading her around the store, we wandered aimlessly until Elise found us.
"Bakugou! This place is amazing!" she came running out of a lamp asle.
"Yeah, I guess," I answered, blandly.I glanced behind me, seeing that the kid was eyeing a purple sweater that was a looked to be a bit too big for her. She seemed to like it but was too scared to ask.
"You want it, kid?" I tried to make my voice sound less rough then normal, but she still jumped in shock.
"I-uh," she looked up to me and then back to the sweater. "I-I think..."
"You think what?" Elise pipped up. This bicth's voice almost made the kid jump five feet into the air.
"N-nothing! I'm sorry," Theodora's eyes filled with anxiety. "I didn't mean to..."I don't know why the kid was so scared of us, but I grabbed the sweater and began to carry it. We'd need to find a basket but I could carry it for the kid.
"We're getting it," I told her. Elise's face went blank.
"She didn't want it," Elise said, her voice had a edge to it.
"Yeah? Well, we're getting it."I began walking more, the kid followed and Elise glared at the ground before tagging behind. We soon passed an aisle of dresses and we stopped. This kid was girl, right? Maybe she wanted a dress or skirt. Her eyes scanned the aisle and she slowly, like she was testing the waters, walked forward down it.
I stopped at this aisle for a reason. She dressed more grown up then any of Shitty Hair's kids or Deku's kid. She dressed like she was ready for a business meeting, or like she was trying to be treated like an adult. She probably didn't want any of the pink, or yellow dresses in any of the kid aisles, so I stopped by the adult/teen second for dresses.
She kept glancing back at Elise and me, like we were jump at her and drag her back by her ear. The red blob crossed her arms over her chest, and stood closer to me then I liked. She kept her eyes on Theo and I knew she was trying to stop her from getting something.
Then, and idea came ot mind.
"Elise," I started, "can you go pick up a cart or basket for us? I've been meaning to get one to hold everything," I told her.
Her eyes lit up and she said, "Of course!!!"She skipped off and my kid relaxed more, seemingly more comfortable around me then her. More importantly, she was looking at a dress that went down to her mid calf. It was a black and looked to be a kind of overall dress-thing. There was a white belt around the waist and her eyes told me she was thinking. I could see the gears in her head turning. Theodora grabbed it off the wrack and looked at me a little, like she was scared of what I was gonna say.
I smiled the best I could and she folded the item over her arm, carrying it close to her chest and walked over to me.
"You want any other dress or something from this aisle?" I asked.
"No, thank you. Dresses aren't really my thing, sir," she answered. "B-but, I thought this looked comfortable."I nodded and that Elise brat came rolling down the aisle with a cart. In the cart was a girly looking stuffed bear. It was bright pink with flowers sewn into the stomach.
I placed the sweater in the cart and Theodora placed the dress in the cart before looking at the bear. Her gaze told me she wasn't fond of it.
"Isn't it cute! I thought it could add a girly touch to your room!" Elise gave me a smile before looked to Theodora. She was challenging her, asking her to tell her 'no'.
"Thank you for the thought," Theodora looked down at the ground, her hands balled into fists. "I'm sure it will look wonderful in my room, Ms. Elise."I wanted to laugh when Elise realized her plan didn't work. Though, I liked how the kid toughed it up, not wanting to say anything rude because Elise thought of her, even if it was only to get her in trouble. Her mom must've raised the kid right.
