"Theodora," Iida he turned to me once we had all dried off, "can I ask you some questions?"I had been waiting for this. I barely forget things people tell me, so I had been waiting on eggshells for his questions he promised last night. He lead me to the living room where Grandpa Iida was. Rika and Kirishima were somewhere in the house, making tea maybe?
I sat in the armchair by the window, IIda sat next to his Grandpa on the couch. I couldn't help but feel nervous. Was this some kind of interrogation? Why were they so intimidating?
"If I may ask, why did you suddenly need to come here?" Tenya Iida crossed his legs.
"Rika...and my CPS worker got into a argument," I told them. It didn't seem right to just tell them everything that had been happening, I didn't know them.
"CPS?" Tenya raised a brow. "Did Bakugou do something to you? Why do you need CPS?"My hands shook. My heart pounded against my chest, boom-boom-boom. I couldn;t just tell them, I couldn't even tell myself what had happened. I didn't know Bakugou and I didn't know the Iidas...
"I-uh...Something happened in America, so I need to live in Japan with Katsuki Bakugou now," I explained. "My CPS worker is here to make sure it's safe for me to live here."
"Ah, okay," Tenya seemed to notice my distress and moved to another question. "What was the fight about?"
"Oh, um, Elise, my worker, was being rude and Rika fought back against her," I dodged.
Grandpa Iida looked at me strangely. "The fight was so bad he thought it better to bring you here?"
"Yes, sir...Elise was being rude to me, you see..."
"You didn't stick up for yourself?" Tenya questioned.
"No...I was a little shocked..." I quickly lied.Tenya nodded, looking to his Grandpa before glancing to me. I shifted in my seat, sitting on my shaking hands. My eyes looked anywhere besides Iida and his grandfather.
Sitting in silence, a door opened and slammed. As if on impulse, I stood and went to check who it was. At the door, wearing a red hoodie with the words, "Red Riot!", written on it was Katsuki Bakugou. He wasn;t wearing his glasses, so I supposed he wore contacts and he was only sightly damp as I guessed he drove.
"Ah! Bakugou!" a voice from behind me shouted. The red-haired Kirishima came barreling towards us both. "Nice to see you man!" he raised his hand in a high five and Bakugou obliged, his red eyes never leaving mine.
I stood near the living room door, shifting from foot to foot and fiddling with my fingers, but not having enough courage to looked away from him. When I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder, I felt my whole body jump. Finally, I tore my gaze from the blonde to the person touching me and saw the tall, Tenya Iida glaring daggers into Grand Zero.
"Ingenium," my father spat out.
"Ground Zero," Tenya shot back.It felt like I was in the middle of a terf war. Why did I feel like they were...fighting without words? God bless Kirishima, though. He sensed the tension and got all of us, including Granda Iida and Rika, some tea and sat us down in the living room.
I was squished between Bakugou and Tenya, Rika sitting on Tenya's other side. Kirishima sat on the floor and Rika in a armchair. Grandpa Iida was standing next to the other armchair, close to sitting down but seemed hesitant not to offer it to anyone else. As much as the tea helped, Tenya and Bakugou still looked pissed at each other.
The air was thick and Rika was oddly flickering between both Tenya and Bakugou, ready to grab me at any moment, which I was thankful for.
Kirishima broke the silence first.
"Theo, how do you like Japan so far?"
I almost choked on my tea from shock. I didn't expect him to address me. "It's beautiful!" I coughed out. "At night there are lots of lights!"
"I always thought so too," Grandpa Iida finally sat down. "Compared to America, this place is much brighter."
"Yes," I nodded.
"Oh! That's right! Which part of America are you from?" Kirishima asked.
"Ah, New York city," I told him. "It's bright there too but it seemed very bright last night."
"New York!" Grandpa beamed. "I lived in Liverpool, Maine, you see. They had some nice collages there. Everyone seemed to talked about New York a lot."
"Yes, it's popular," I told him.Silence enveloped us once again. There wasn't as much tension but I wasn't sure what to do. We sat there drinking tea until we heard another knock at the door. I stood up before everyone, needing an excuse to leave and get some air. I opened the door and Elise stood there, nose wrapped a file in her hand.
"Get your dad," Elise spat.
The three of us stood on the front porch of the Iida House. Elise was talking about how she found Bakugou's house safe for me to live and we signed a few pieces of paper. She then turned in her heels and walked out into the mud, umbrella over her head, to a taxi that was waiting with all her bags inside of it.
Bakugou and I stood in silence and frozen in place. She was gone? Elise wasn't supposed to leave for the next three days, what had happened.
Ground Zero lifted a hand and ruffled my hair, making me jump a little from his touch. When he stopped, his hand sat on my head, his eyes scanning mine. I lifted both my hands and placed them on top of his.
"Right," he smirked widely, "the bitch is gone. What do ya' say to grabbing everyone and going out for a celebratory dinner?"I felt my face flush with surprised and I shut my eyes tight to stop myself from crying. I nodded with a squeak of agreement.
It was all over now.
