Today was New Year's Eve. My family would obviously be spending it with Becky's family. They have a very big family which I love so much.
Becky and I have been good. It feels like old times. We haven't done anything that friends wouldn't do. It's hard for me but , we're getting there.
" how's Sebastian ?" I asked her as we were in the supermarket
" I don't know." She shrugged
" he's your boyfriend , how do you not know ?" I asked with a slight laugh.
" We haven't been on talking terms." She said walking into another aisle.
" en veldad veldad ?" I asked
She sighed " yes Zabdiel , look I'm sorry about last time. I just can't think straight when I'm around you."
I froze thinking about her words.
" Nene , let's go !" I heard her voice. I followed it and saw her struggling with all the bags. I was really zoned out for that long.
" give me that." I said taking most of the bags away from her.
What did she mean by what she said ?
" Zabdiel !!" Becky's family exclaimed as soon as I walked into the backyard.
" Familia!" I smiled and went to give them all hugs.
" pero mira la baby , ella está grande." I said carrying one of Becky's baby nieces.
" she's so cute." I commented
" excuse me , what are you doing with my baby." Becky said in a baby voice
" ella es mía." I said in a baby voice back
" no no no. She's tia Becky's." She argued back
" Tio Zabdi." I said getting all up in her face.
" Are you guys dating ?" One of Becky's cousins asked catching us off guard.
" no." We both said at the same time and then looked at each other.
" you guys would be cute." The girl shrugged
" ella tiene razón." I whispered so only we could hear. Becky just stood shut and took the baby from me.
We spent the rest of the time talking , laughing , and dancing. It was such a great time. It felt great to be back at home. It makes me feel normal all over again.
" the countdown !" Frankie shouted and we all went inside.

I was standing next to my mom, she had her arm wrapped around me and I had one around her shoulders. I then felt another arm wrap around me. I looked down and saw Becky. I smiled.
8 ... 7 ... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1
" Happy New Year!" Everyone screamed. I first embraced my mom and Becky did the same with her family.
We then turned to each other and in that moments it's like everything around us froze. I leaned my forehead down against hers. The noises around us became nonexistent.
" another year of us still being close." I whispered
" I'm glad I get to know you." She whispered back and I began to caress her cheeks.
" yo también." I answered.
" Happy New Year , Zabdiel." She said and closed the gap between us; we kissed. It was slow and gentle.
I looked into her eyes and I saw so much love.
" I love you." She said for the first time in who knows how long after we pulled away.
" I love you more."
