THE DULL WALLS OF THE dungeons and the cold wasn't something Ara was particularly fond of, it always reminded her of 12 Grimmauld Place.
She was currently walking with Frank and Alice to their first class of the day: potions. It was surprisingly the class she liked most. They shared this class with the Gryffindors since last year when they had taken their Ordinary Wizarding Levels together.
Stepping into the classroom, they were greeted by their professor, who had a gleeful expression on his face. Professor Slughorn always had a dangerous potion or one who's hard to make with him for the first lesson of the year.
The trio sat down on a table near the front and got out their book Advanced Potion-making by Libatius Borage.
Ara didn't notice Professor Slughorn starting the lesson, talking about which potions they'd make this year as she was too distracted by these scents. Where were they coming from ?
"So can anybody tell me what potion this is ?"
The steam rises in spirals from the potion sitting on the wooden desk in front of them. Ara immediately recognized it from its distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen and her hand rose up.
"Yes, Miss Black."
"It's Amortentia, the most powerful love potion. But it doesn't create actual love, the person under the effect of the potion will only hold an obsession for the person who administered it. Amortentia smells different to each person, according to what attracts them, Sir."
"Great, ten points to Hufflepuff. Now, who can.."
The sound of Slughorn's voice was muffled as Ara realized why these scents were so intensified to her when she stepped into the classroom.
