Chapter 10 - The Office

The Next Morning

I start to slowly get out of my bed and rub my eyes.

I yawn.

I look out the window to realize that I...actually didn't dream, which is probably the best thing I could ask for.

I decided to go out for a walk around the school, to wake myself up a bit.

10 Minutes Later

I just got back from the walk and see Violet already up and about. I decide to try'n chat with her.

You: Mornin' Vi.

Vi: Oh mornin', didn't think you'd be up this early.

You: Guess I finally got some good sleep.

Vi: That's good.

There's silence

It's a bit awkward now.

Vi: Sooo..

I look up at her, waiting for a question.

Vi: You like Clem?

Fuck...

I put my hands in my face and frustratingly grunt.

You: Was it that obvious?

Vi: Yea.

You: Damn...you didn't tell anyone, did you?

Louis: She didn't need to buddy!

He says as he pats my back. I jump in response, not knowing he was behind me.

Louis: But luckily, it's only obvious to us.

He says as he points at Vi and himself.

Vi: But, you'd make a cute couple.

You: I've only known her for a little while. It's not like I love her.

Vi: Mmhm, keep telling yourself that, bud.

You: Yea, whatever.

I say as I sit down in the picnic table.

I sit there until Louis gets out his cards.

Louis: Crazy 8s?

Me, Louis, and Vi have been playing Crazy 8 for about an hour now and it's getting annoying at the amount of times Vi has won.

It's now Me and Vi facing off with Vi having 1 left while I have two in my hand.

Louis has a quarter of the deck in his hand.

Louis has his head slumped into his hand in boredom.

Louis: This sucks.

You/Vi: Shut up.

Louis is a little taken back from us both but goes back to slumping in his hands.

I look at my hand and place down my 6 of clubs.

I swear if she...

Vi places her last card and wins the game as I groan in frustration.

Louis: Finally! Now I have a chance at winning.

You: Actually...I'm gonna go to my room for a bit.

I say as I pinch my nose in frustration at the fact that I lost to Vi 3 times in a row.

Louis: Wha-But-

You: See ya.

I hear Louis slam his head into the table in annoyance.

Louis: Damnit.

Vi chuckles as I open the door to the dorms to see Clem with her crutches.

Clem: Oh, hey.

She says with a smile.

You: Hey, where'a you goin'?

Clem: I'm gonna ask Vi to move some stuff from the office to my room.

You: Oh, does the leg not work or-?

Clem: No, no! It's great, but I'd rather not go up a flight of stairs for a room I don't care about.

You: Makes sense.

Clem:...Well, I'll talk to you later, Y/N.

She says as she hobbles away.

You: How about I help you?

Clem looks over her shoulder and smiles.

Clem: I'd like that.

I nod while Me and Clem head over to move her things from the office to the room.

We make it to the staircase and me and Clem stand at the base of the stairs.

You: You think you can you can do it?

Clem looks at the stairs and furrows her brows.

Clem: I think.

She hands me her crutches and she holds onto the railing.

We make it up the stairs and back into her room. We moved all of the stuff that she needed from the office into her room.

It's about evening at this point and dinner might will be ready soon.

I place the box on her desk and release a huff of breath.

You: *Pant* Alright, looks like you've got your new office.

Clem: Yea, thanks for doing all of the work for me basically.

You: Yea, no problem.

Clem: Dinner should be ready soon so just head over there and do your thing I guess.

You: Yea, I'll see you there?

Clem: Yea, of course.

You: Ok.

I walk towards the door.

Clem: Oh wait, Y/N?

I stop and turn around.

You: Yea?

Clem: Could you help me practice with the new leg after dinner please?

You: Yea! Of course, it's why I made it for you anyways.

Clem: Heheh...Yea...I'll see you at dinner.

You: You too.
