Chapter 18

-Kenji's POV-

I sneezed as the woman in the diner walked past me. Having my hair short meant sudden chills affected me both. The surrogate had wanted to meet us in a public place to get to know what kind of people we were. She was human and needed the extra money for her college course. We didn't mind as long as she was healthy during the pregnancy and our cubs were fine. She was called Jade Canopy and we had chosen her above a dozen women. 

"What you thinking about love," Spiros asked as he reached around me to start playing with my hair. 

He loved being able to comb it with his fingers because it felt as good as when he would scratch me in my tiger form. And now I spent less time getting ready which was always a plus. 

"The surrogate is late we need to meet her before the appointment. It's in an hour. We told her the meeting times yesterday" I said frustrated. 

We had to forgo our normal morning lovemaking because the doctor said we needed to be ready to give a sample of sperm each. 

"When we get back we can make love all we want" Spiros growled in my mind no doubt I had projected my thoughts to him again. 

"I'd love that" I replied with a purr even though my cheeks burned red with embarrassment. 

The door opening abruptly had us ending our telepathic communication. The chime rang vigorously as a young woman opened the door. I recognised her from the picture her agency had given us. As she walked over I noticed that she was more mild-mannered than her entrance had suggested. 

"Hello are you Spiros and Kenji," She asked clutching onto her bag nervously. 

"Yes we are it's nice to meet you, Jade," Spiros said as we stood up and offered her hands for her to shake. 

"It's nice to meet you too" Jade replied as she let go of her bag and shook our hands. 

After the greeting was over she slid into the both at the opposite side of us. As she put her bag to the side I took in her general appearance. She had dark brown hair and hazel brown eyes, a dusting of light freckles on her face. Her skin was fairly pale and she was curvey. She wore thick-rimmed glasses on her face though her bangs hid most of her face. The blouse and trousers she wore were also appropriate I had to give her props for her attire. 

"Would you like to order anything while we are here" I offered, smiling so that she would become more comfortable with us. 

"Just a glass of orange juice please, and then we can get down to business" Jade responded as she relaxed her shoulders and got out a document from her bag. 

"Um, excuse me can we get a glass of orange juice, please" Spiros called at the waitress who had served us. 

"Oh course sir, I'll have it with you in a few moments," the waitress said as she smiled softly at us.

"Well now that's sorted I took the liberty of coming up with a contract, I assume you want two zygotes so that at least on takes. I have the payment amounts, the visitation and the doctor's appointment schedules all sorted I just need you signatures after you have read it through" Jade spoke confidently pushing her glasses up at the end of her speech.

"I guess that's why your a law student" Spiros chuckled as he put the contract in front of us so we could read it. 

"Yes, I am willing to help you because I need financial help with my last year of school. I took a year out so that I could earn the money for my dissertation year" Jade explained as the waitress came back and put her juice on the table.
