Runa and Hiccup made their way to where the class was to meet up with the class for dinner. The whole way there, Hiccup was telling Runa what he felt during the entire ordeal with the Night Fury. He explained that he was terrified. He felt like the dragon was going to attack him almost every time he got near it to try and touch him. The girl laughed at him in which he responded by pouting a bit. "I'd like to see you try." He mumbled a bit while continuing to pout. The wheat-blond bit her lip and looked away guiltily. She still hadn't told him about the Dramillion she had found and helped earlier. "Hey, tomorrow afternoon I want to show you something." The boy raised a curious brow and agreed; "Sure, but what is it?" His friend smiled and put a finger to her lips. "You'll have to wait and see."
Once they reached the lookout, the two friends sat down and placed their food close to the fire to cook. Runa had a chicken leg while Hiccup had a fish. After watching him eat part of a regurgitated fish, she couldn't bring herself to have one. While the Chief's son looked to be lost in thought, Runa half listened to Gobber tell the story of how he lost his hand and leg to a couple of dragons. She had to chuckle a little when he said that one dragon had told another how delicious he was. His next words caught both friends' attention. "It's the wings and the tail you want. If it can fly, it can't get away. A downed dragon is a dead dragon." They looked at each other and both thought the same thing before both took off. Neither noticing Astrid's gaze.
"Okay, so we have to get him up in the air again. If the others find him, he's either as good as dead or the newest and most dangerous dragon in Dragon Training." "No one would ever pass then." Both of the teens made it to the blacksmith's shop and put on their aprons. The boy grabbed a large sheet of leather while his friend cleared a table they could work on. The first thing they needed to do was come up with a design that would allow him to fly. They agreed that it should look similar to his original fin, so it wouldn't look that off. Hiccup almost started drawing on sheet of leather, but Runa stopped him. She handed him a decent sized piece of paper and explained that if the sketch was messed up, it may not wipe off cleanly. The boy teased her, saying that she was being a perfectionist with the design. She just blushed in slight embarrassment and looked away pouting. "Just...to be safe." He laughed a bit then nodded in agreement. They both got out their small leather bound books and opened them up to their drawing of the Night Fury as reference.
After about fifteen minutes of drawing up a design and making sure they were sure the measurements were accurate, the friends got to work. The two split up. One getting the metal they would be melting and forging into rods to hold the tail fin's shape and the other gathering the tools they would need to shape said metal into said rods. They had a little argument about who would be quenching and shaping the rods. Hiccup told her that he had more experience in that part when they were working. Runa tried to say that he had a hard time from time to time when he was hammering things. However, he reminded her that she too, had the same trouble from time to time. Though they weren't working on large, heavy weapons this time. "Exactly! So I won't have a hard time with it either!" "But it's my design!" "Our design." The boy groaned and tossed his head back in frustration. "Yes our design, but-" "Best out of three." The green eyed teen blinked at the ceiling before looking at his best friend with a questioning look. He raised a brow when he saw her arm outstretched and her hand in a fist. With a small smirk, the young Haddock held his hand out and accepted the challenge. They spoke at the same time as they raised and lowered their fists a bit. "Rock. Paper. Scissors!"
Hiccup sat on a chair, pouting a bit as he hammered the nails out of an old shield that had hung forgotten about on the wall. Runa had bested him two to one. It was obvious that neither one wanted to hammer the stubborn nails out. Runa chuckled and smiled at her friend. "Oh come on Hiccup. It's not that bad." The boy sighed and sagged his shoulders a bit. "Says you. These darn things are a pain to get out!" The girl gripped a broken, beat up sword with large tongs and held it into the blazing kiln to heat it up. She laughed lightly and glanced at the boy from the corner of her eyes. She would never admit it out loud, or even to herself really, but he looked cute sitting on the chair with a frustrated look on his face as he pried the nails out of the shield. The wheat-blond moved her attention back to the kiln and a few moments later she pulled the metal out and placed it onto an anvil. She grabbed a hammer and started shaping it. The rod needed to be thin and sturdy while also not being too long.
