Before We Proceed. This is a heavy chapter. Like really heavy. There will be in-depth conversations about sexual assault and death and I will place disclaimers before the actual descriptions. However, that is the theme for most of this chapter and will almost be impossible to ignore once we get into it. This is also an important chapter for the development of our characters. So, if you just want a TL;DR I am more than willing to give one if ya ask. I take topics like this very seriously and I'm not just adding these things cause "oooo trauma!". So call me out on my shit if I say write something stupid.

It was the last two days of Gavin's medical leave and it showed. He was really antsy to get back to work. He had already watched all the shows he wanted to, caught up on all his favorite Youtubers, and he even read a book. A book for fuck's sake! It felt like the 2020 quarantine all over again. Even his cat was getting fed up with him, although that could have been just Clem being a cat. But it still sucked ass.

The only thing that kept him interested were the case updates from Conan. And well, maybe Conan himself a little bit. Although, don't tell anyone he thought that. He didn't need Conan getting a big head. In fact, he hadn't told anyone about him and the android yet. He didn't think his love life was anyone else's business but his own. Plus, he kinda wanted to see Chris and Tina's reaction in person. Just envisioning their surprise put a devilish smirk on his face.

It was half-past eleven. Gavin was pacing around the apartment, unlit smoke in hand. It was unusually late for Conan and he was becoming on edge. He snapped out of his train of thought when he heard the apartment door click open, revealing the android.

Gavin walked over to Conan, "Where the hell were you! Why didn't you respond to my texts!" Gavin asked forcefully to the android who was just hanging up his jacket.

Conan gave the detective look of confusion. He didn't understand why the man was blowing up at him. "I was helping set up the stakeouts around the city. I thought I told you about it yesterday and how I would be late. I am sorry I missed your texts though." He stated.

A shock of realization fell upon Gavin. He suddenly remembered when Conan, had in fact, told him about the stakeouts. "Oh shit, right." He put down his cig on the kitchen counter, "I was just getting worried that something happened to you with everything that's going on with androids and..." His head dropped towards the floor.

Conan placed his hand under Gavin's chin bringing up towards his. "Thank you for your concern." He said sincerely. "But trust me when I say it would be extremely difficult for someone to harm me. I am, after all, Cyberlife's most advanced prototype."

"Oh, you cocky bastard." Gavin chuckled.

Conan pecked his lips on Gavin's forehead, causing the man to blush immensely. "I am merely stating the facts." He smirked.

The android took a seat on the couch with Gavin following close behind. He shuffled next to Conan and tiredly leaned his head against the back of the couch. "How did the setting up go?" He asked.

"It went well. We placed fifteen groups of two in locations where we calculated bodies have a high probability of being dumped. If anything happens tonight, we'll see it." Conan answered.

"Let's hope." Gavin sighed, "Just as long you didn't put Tina and Chris on the same team we're all good." He snarked.

Conan innocently glanced down at Gavin, "I did actually. Was that a mistake? I thought they were friends."

Gavin lightly flicked the android's head, "They are you dumbass, that's why it's a bad idea. Them, in a car, for ten hours, with only their one shared brain cell to keep them on task." He met Conan's gaze, "They're probably playing Carry On Wayward Son on repeat and drinking Redbull non-stop right now." Gavin shrugged, "So just, don't expect too much."
