"Well shit, here we are," Gavin said, glancing over at Conan as he pulled his car into the DPD parking lot. He parked it in his usual spot; beneath the single tree that hung over the paved concrete. Providing a small bit of shade for anything underneath.

He turned off the car and pulled the keys out of the ignition. The hum of the engine clicked and faded away into silence as his head drooped down to where he started to stare blankly at his hands as he fidgeted with his keys. Watching how the metallic surfaces glistened against the seeping light.

Conan looked over at the distracted detective, giving him a moment before speaking. "Are you ready to go in yet Gavin?" He finally asked.

Gavin jumped out of his trance and pocketed his keys into his jacket. He ran his hand through his hair and down his face. "Yeah..." He answered tiredly, however he did not attempt to leave the car.

Conan could read Gavin's vitals, even when he didn't mean to. So that meant he saw when the detective had been exhibiting signs of increased anxiety and stress throughout the day. Which was understandable after the events of last night. A lot had happened and his distant response was logical, but it didn't mean it wasn't any less distressing for the android. But Conan decided to not mention it to Gavin. He didn't want to get him worked up before his first shift back at the precinct.

"Come on, let's get going. Captain Fowler already gave us the morning off, I doubt he'll appreciate it if we show up late on top of that." Conan nudged, cracking his door open just a bit to get one foot out on the concrete. His gaze was still focused on Gavin.

Gavin nodded and begrudgingly opened his door, stepping out into the parking lot. He made sure the car was locked before they walked quietly over to the precinct.

Gavin only broke their silence for a moment right before they opened the doors to say,

"I like the new jacket."

Conan glanced down at Gavin, a cocky smile on his face. "I know you do."

Since the Captain had given them the morning off due to the 'late-night rooftop incident'. They made a pit-stop to the department store to get Conan a new jacket. The Cyberlife one just had to go. No more mistaking their murderous doppelganger for Conan.

After they tried on a few very very bad choices. Which all included a denim jacket which had to have been made for teens judging by how much it constricted on Conan's arms and chest. He had to practically T-pose in it to not rip it into pieces. Quickly followed by a jacket with so many pockets, strings, and knots that confused the hell out of Gavin and even the android. And then a leather jacket that looked uncanny to the one Gavin wears. Which was extremely unnerving for the man who immediately objected to it and shoved him back into the changing room. He was pretty sure Conan had picked that one out just to mess with him. That prick.

Finally, though, they had settled on a pristine white double-breasted trenchcoat that ended halfway down his thigh. Long enough for the style, but short enough to be practical for their line of work. The high collar and large lapels of the coat complemented with the android's turtlenecks. Plus, the black inner lining of the trenchcoat made it stand out in a subtle but intimidating way. Gavin was an absolute flustered mess seeing him in that coat for the first time. Unable to say a single coherent word and his face a red as a beet. What could he say? He liked men in trenchcoats. And that's when they knew he had the right one.

Conan had barely just opened the station's door when they heard the squeaky scuffle of feet running against the tiled floor in their direction.

"Gavin!"

The detective was suddenly accosted by a small five foot three officer wrapping her arms around his neck and yanking him down to her level. The embrace was tight, there was no point in fighting it, he had already lost.
