Dani snuggled up to the Simurgh that she had recently been flying on. They had landed only a few minutes ago and Blue had suggested stopping to sleep. She welcomed the idea with open arms, having had not slept since she before she had arrived to this world and desperately needed sleep. A part of her was hopping that it was still a dream and when she wakes up she will be back home in her warm bed. That she would have imagined everything including her mother’s illness. She could faintly smell the pancakes her mother made every morning before a performance, and tried hard not to cry about it.
She knew she had to be strong and do what she needed to do if all of this was really real. But she was finding it hard to do and was glad to have Blue at her side. Without him she would have been nothing in this world, she would already be dead. It made her wonder how he had even got here for she couldn’t remember creating him. Opening her eyes a little she peeked over at where he was. He was sitting in front of a fire he had made when they had arrived, he was talking to his Simurgh and it was making happy noises at him as answers.
“Blue?” Her voice came out softer then she had intended and worried that he had not heard her.
Slightly his ears twitched as they picked up her voice, “Yes Dani?”
She sat up a little and rested her back against her large new friend, “How… Did you get to this world? I know I never created you… So who did?”
He let out a sigh before standing up and going over to where she was, sitting beside her and wrapping his tail over her shoulders to help keep her warm, “I was created by an old man that lived in Germany. He loved to create beautiful sculptors to sell in his shop. But he was getting too old to continue his work so he made two more before he died. Those two were my wife and me…” His eyes grew slightly saddened, “They say when you create something with all your heart it will come to life and that’s what happened. He loved me and Cecilia so much and that love his made us real.”
“He never wanted us to be parted; we were created to forever be together. But after he died we were separated…” His gaze lowered to his lap, “I went on a journey in my world, a world inhabited by other creations brought to life through the love of their creator, I was looking for her. Once I found her I was so happy but our joy didn’t last very long. I lost her again and almost lost myself but this young girl saved me from the darkness that would have killed me. She changed my name Mr. Blue Bird and took very good care of me.”
His lips curved a little as he glanced at her, “She brought me to this world when he niece came to stay with her, asking me to watch over her and there for her when she enters this world to complete her own destiny.”
Dani’s eyes widened. “My Auntie saved you? But she is so old!”
“She wasn’t old when I met her; she was around your age. You also know my wife, she sits near your aunt at all times, never moving and never seeing.” He stood up and dusted off his pants.
“What… Happened to her, your wife?” She bit her lower lip afraid that she had asked something that she shouldn’t have.
Blue stiffened a little before he answered her, “She lost the love that our creator had given us, the life in her died out as did the light in her eye. She is nothing more than a statue now… Now get to sleep, we need to start out search for that being first thing in the morning.” He walked away from her to go back to the fire.
Dani looked away from as she laid back down, directing her gaze up to the starless night. She had never thought of drawing stars in the areas where she had made it night and now wished that she had. Slowly her eyes closed and she drifted off into her mind that produced a lovely dream. It was about Blue and his wife, of them together. They were happy, laughing, and in love with each other.
