They were sitting around a large conference table, a cup of tea sat in front of them. The tea had been warm but had become cold during the long silence between them. Blue cleared his throat drawing the tense attention in the room to him. Slightly he leaned forward towards Gravity who sat across from them.
“What do you mean by you have everything under control and don’t need our help?” His tail flicked from side to side in annoyance from what had been said earlier.
She leaned back in her seat folding her hands neatly in her lap, “I don’t know if there is a simpler way to put what I said Mr. Blue. The problem that arose here is being dealt with and I do not need outsiders coming in and ruining everything I have done. You and Dani can stay here tonight but I want you gone first thing in the morning, all you’re going to end up doing is letting the darkness grow stronger.”
“Are you stupid? We are here to get rid of the darkness and Dani is no outsider, she is the creator of this city that you are trying so hard to protect!” He snapped, shooting up out of his seat. His chair toppled over from the force of his movement.
“I am well aware of who she really is and what she has done. It is her fault that this darkness is even here so why should I let her help?” She spoke calmly showing no sign that his reaction was bothering her.
Blue opened his mouth to argue some more but was stopped by Dani’s hand shooting in front of his mouth to keep him quite, “I’m sorry about what ever has happened and agree that it is my fault the darkness is here. But it is my path to get rid of it and no one else’s. I don’t know what you are doing to stop it but everything you are doing is pointless, only I can get rid of the darkness.”
Gravity slightly leaned forward in her seat training her gaze on Dani, “Do you have any idea what we have been through here, and do you have any idea how scared I am that something will happen to my child? This thing has been killing off my people for days and you decide now to step in and stop it? Where were you when it started to kill children? Where were you when it killed my best friend? You were gone, in your own world, with your own problems. This is not your world Dani and you know that so stop trying to help people that don’t want your help.”
“Right now, you’re the only person that doesn’t want my help and that makes you a fool in my eyes.” Dani calmly stood up and placed a hand on Blues shoulder, “We are going to stay the night here and will leave in the morning like you want. But remember that when something bad happens… You could have stopped it, you could have got help and kept others from having to suffer.” Turning her back to her she walked to the elevator with Blue in tow and pushed the button.
When the doors opened she walked inside with him and pressed the button for the bottom floor. Silence hung in the air between them, neither knowing exactly what to say yet. Blue was still taking deep breaths trying to calm down. When he got as calm as he could he finally broke the silence between them.
“Are we really going to leave?” He looked at her from the corner of his eye.
Dani straightened her back and held her head up high, “No, we are going to find a place to hide and wait until night. Then we are going to see what the darkness is here and find out who the being is that we need to help.”
He grinned at her, being pleased with the plan, “I’m proud of you for thinking that, if this had happened yesterday you would have turned tail and run.”
“Shut up.” She said playfully, smacking his shoulder.
He laughed and shoved her gently out of the elevator when the door opened. A light giggle bubbled up and out of her as she stumbled and caught herself. Turning her head a little she watched him get out before exiting from the building. The man standing guard outside held the door open for them again and gave them both nods of respect.
