from the wreckage did we find ourselves
and there is where we found one another:
blooming anew our poppy minds
blooming anew our poppy hearts

from the wreckage did we learn to fight
and there is where we learned to stand:
our hands holding strength,
our hands holding wisdom

from the wreckage did we grow thick skin
and there is where we grew our mantras:
"we will be okay" and
"this is not the end"

from the wreckage did we win ourselves
and there is where we won control:
our arms are not freshly cut,
our sleeves are not hiding scars

from the wreckage did we build a home
and there is where we built foundation:
enough to love our bodies
enough to love our lives.

because suicide is not wreckage,
no, suicide is a bomb.
our thoughts cause wreckage—
and our thoughts are only cuts on our:

minds being anew,
hearts being anew,
hands being held,
arms being healed,
and bodies being loved.

from the wreckage we built a home,
from a bomb did we survive:
and there is where we bloomed.
