Ricky and Nini had the perfect life together, until they didn't. when Ricky is involved in an accident leading to losing his memories, how can he find his way back to his one true love, his fiancé Nini.

the past three weeks since Ricky got into his accident have been excruciatingly hard for Nini. she rarely slept and if she did it was only for a few hours, she barely ate, her moms had come by to bring her changes of clothes and a toothbrush, as she didn't really go home. somebody had to stay with Ricky, that's all she kept saying.
her days were spent by jotting his vitals down into a small notebook, taking notes on what the doctors said, telling Ricky about her day or about a message one of their friends sent in, and tweeting out weekly updates on his condition.
things were getting better. the doctor had suggested taking Ricky off the vent as he seemed to be breathing on his own again. she was thrilled to hear this news, calling her moms and Mike after the doctor left so she could tell them. Ricky was responding positively to all the stimuli and things were looking really hopeful.
Nini was sitting in the same hospital chair next to her fiancés bed. she was dressed comfortably in a pair of leggings and one of Ricky's University of Utah Band shirts that shed stolen from him. she was reading to him from his favorite book, Narnia. she never understood why the book fascinated him so much but after reading it almost 50 times in the last three weeks, she understood the magic in it.
a knock came from the door and Nini turned sharply to the door, "come in!"
"hi Nina, i'm just gonna do some PT exercises, you can keep reading to him if you'd like."
Nini nodded and found herself back in the book. she simply worked around all the doctors and nurses and physicians by now. Ricky had Physical Therapy at 2pm every afternoon to keep his muscles from atrophying while in the coma. it was weird to watch at first but she got used to it, somebody else mechanically moving her fiancés body around.
she finished her chapter, dog earring the page and closing the old hard cover book, setting it on the table besides his bed. she turned to the PT, who she learned over the weeks name was Mindy.
"did you hear they're gonna take him off the vent?" Nini asked, her hands tucked under her chin.
Mindy nodded as she bent Ricky's leg, "i did. it's exciting stuff. have any idea what you're gonna say to him when he first wakes up?"
Nini chuckled humorously, "probably something like, why don't you pick a new way home next time or how about we don't drive through that dangerous intersection anymore."
Mindy laughed slightly, "it's definitely going to be weird to see him awake, at least for me. all i know of Richard here is him being incapacitated."
Nini smiled softly, "he's amazing, you're going to love him Mindy. he has the most amazing voice, not even just when he's singing, the way he talks is so calming. he's the smartest person i've ever met, he's so intelligent. kid can skateboard better than he can walk, you'd never believe it. he's the most amazing teacher ever, his students are obsessed with him."
