Chapter 3
Ericka gave me a ride home and we talked about what had happened that day. I told her my encounter with my ex and this new guy but I did not mention his name. She of course, babbled about how cruel our teachers for giving us load of homework first hand. She also mentioned that she's getting bored with Tyler. It’s not a shocker since she did this all time. They had been dating only for two months. This had been the longest. She wanted to break up with him.
The next few days, school started to sink in on me. Lectures, pop quiz, projects, and lots of homework. It’s a torture since Mark was almost all of my class. However, I ignored him the whole time. In my head, he's dead to me.
There's one thing that kept me interested in going to school, it’s Zeke Dylan. He would always glance at me in class. Waiting for me to burst out and cry just as I did last time. It’s as if he's figuring me out. Sometimes I get paranoid. I should talk to him because I couldn't concentrate in class with him staring at me.
At lunch Ericka and I should have eaten together but she said she had something to do. So I sat quietly alone in our regular seat.
Suddenly,
"Ahem… is this seat taken?" It was Zeke smiling at me, I wasn’t expecting for him.
"S-sh-sure!" I stuttered
"Every seat is taken so I figured..." He asserted, still a smile on his visage.
"Yea its cool…" I insisted and I drank my soda to stop myself from looking nervous.
"Nice sketch you got there" Zeke mumbled pointing at my sketch pad.
"It’s a lady I saw at the park. She's so stunning that’s why I had to draw her." I exclaimed.
"Yours was so much better." I pointed out the one in class that he drew. It’s a man with a pipe.
He grinned "Thanks, I’ve been doing sketches since I was in grade school. How ‘bout you?"
"Uhm, same here." I said. I need to ask him why he was always staring at me. "Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead." He said with a concerned look on his face.
"Why do you always stare at me?" I blurted out. He chuckled a bit.
"I always look at you 'cause...I’m worried that you might cry all of a sudden. The last time I saw you, you were in a bad state." He uttered.
"Hmmm, you do have a point. Anyway, I'm Aria Bennet. Nice to meet ya." I answered with a friendly grin.
"I’m Zeke Dylan." he said.
"I know." I muttered.
"You know?" he asked.
"You introduced yourself in art class, remember?" I laughed.
He scratched the back of his head with a smirk on his face. He looks handsome when he does that. He had this bad boyish charm.
"Aria, you okay?" He asked with a grin. I was so busy admiring him that I spaced out. I blushed and bent my head down. I was embarrassed with my action.
"Am I too hot for you?" he asked while crossing his eyebrows.
"Excuse me?!" I reacted indifferently.
"Just kidding. Are you always this tense?" He asked.
"No...I just..." I thought for a second, but I couldn’t think of an explanation. I could tell him what’s bugging me these days.
"You don’t need to answer that, I’m just trying to lighten up your mood." He exclaimed. I smiled at that. Then there was an awkward silence. I tried to eat my food as fast as I could so I could get away.
"I gotta go." I announced.
"Thanks by the way. " He said while referring to the seat. I nodded then went for my exit.
