Hospital Trip

O: can I talk to you?

L: yeah, of course.

O: okay, thank you. I feel left out.

L: what? Why?

O: I don't know, yesterday you guys were together and you didn't even invite me.

L: omg, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. I was so carried away. Can you forgive me? I promise I will never do that again. You're my best friend and I will always be with you.

O: thank you. I'm glad that's out of the way. 

L: no problem. Let's do something!

O: like what.

L: the beach?

O: no, we were just there.

L: oh, Netflix?

O: yes! Where are the snacks? I'm getting them! You load Stranger Things!

L: okay.

I go to the room and pause Stranger Things. I wait until she's here and we press play and watch.

2 days later...

I don't want to read this book for school. It's so boring. It's about a rabbit. Why would I read that. And Olivia is always hanging out with this other girl. Claire.

I didn't read the book, so I'm making up chapters. We have to write summaries for every chapter.

Chapter 1:

The rabbit's mother passed away and the father was sad. He ran away, leaving his child all alone. 

Chapter 2: 

The rabbit got tired of being alone and went to look for her dad. She brought her friend so she wouldn't get lonely. But her friend would always hang out with someone else. 

Chapter 3:

The rabbit's friend wore a hat that chopped off her ears. Now, she has to wait for her friend's ears to grow back.

Chapter 4:

The rabbit got tired of her friend and they started fighting. Now, they aren't talking to each other. The rabbit still can't find her dad.

I made up the chapters. How hard could it be? The book cover has a rabbit, so the characters are rabbits.

The English teacher gives me my vocabulary quiz back. An F. Great.

English teacher: See me after class.

I nod. When class is over, I go up to Ms. Perez.

L: yes?

Mp: you have been failing my class. Is there something wrong? Something going on at home?

L: no. 

Mp: Lizzie, you used to be a straight A student. Now you have a D. What happened? 

L: the vocabulary is tricky I guess. I thought it was easy. My dad used to say to break up words to find the meaning. So for felicity, I know Feline means cat, and city is a place. So, felicity means city for cats. 

Mp: no. Lizzie, feliz means happy in Spanish. So, it means happy. Listen, could you take this letter to the counsler's office? And take your things too, it's getting late, go. And I want you to fix your mistakes and I want Tanya to sign this quiz. You know you can't do basketball if you have a bad grade, it's the law. I'm sorry.

L: what? No! I'll do anything! Please! I'll read books! I'll wash your car! And I'll babysit your kids for free! Please! Just let me do basketball!
