I woke up today with the same recurring thoughts and dreams... It has been nearly a year now and yet I can't get over it... I can't get over you. They say time will heal everything but I'm slowly breaking as time passes.
Unable to fall asleep again, I slip into a world of thoughts, the thoughts of you. I don't know if it's insomnia or the late-night crying that makes my eyes always swollen anymore.
My thoughts drifted off to the time we first met...

It was the time of fall and I had a lot of uni assignments. I had gone to a clinic to gather some data for my assignment, after which I took my shoes and was going to wear them when someone came in. Not caring about who it was, I grabbed on to his shoulder for support and wore my shoes. I quickly thanked him and walked out to start my part-time job. Hey! Don't judge me! I didn't care about who it was then 'cause I was sure I wouldn't meet him again so I didn't feel embarrassed.
I had walked in for a doctor's appointment when I felt a tiny set of hands landed on my shoulder. At first, I was shocked to see some stranger's hands on my shoulder. I could feel the proximity and my breath hitched when her grasp tightened. Before I could say anything, she beat me to it by apologizing to me with a bow and just walked off! Such audacity I thought then.
Days and weeks had passed and both the parties forgot about the tiny incident; their minds had bigger and better things to worry about anyway.
And then came a day...
I had just gotten a ton of assignments whose deadline was unreasonably small. I was well aware of the sleep this will be costing me, so I decided to take some measures in advance. Lengthy assignments and sleepless nights' best companion is a strong and good cup of coffee, and I don't think this time a single cup would be enough.
So, I walked to the nearest coffee shop while stuffing all my assignments into my nearly full bag. That's when I stumbled upon this café. And to my luck, it was only a few blocks away from my apartment.
As I opened the glass door, I was hit with a strong smell of coffee. I couldn't help but smile at the familiar yet comforting smell. I found a seat near the window in the already packed café. I placed my bag down next to me and loosened the knots in my muscles. When I finally relaxed, I started scanning the surroundings.
The café was filled with customers and the air was buzzing with subtle conversations. That's when my eyes landed on her. She was holding up multiple serving trays while taking orders. My eyes widened as I recognized her. Wasn't she the one who used me like a wall a few weeks ago? My eyes were trained on her.
Now I'd gotten an opportunity to take a good look at her. She had a petite frame. Her hands looked so fragile that I thought they would break with the slightest touch, yet it could hold up so many trays together! Her face was small and adorable and her cheeks were slightly tinted with pink. Her nose was small yet lopsided, but her eyes were the ones that captivated me. It held a sense of innocence in them. Realizing that I'm deviating from the main reason as to why I am here I decided to brush my thoughts off and order a drink.
I raised my hand and tried to grab her attention. She noticed me, made a sound which I can best describe as a squeak, and rushed behind the counter to place the trays down. She came to me with a small notebook and pen and asked, "How can I help you out today?"
