After constant pestering by my friends, I decided to come out of my home for a leisurely walk. I had been so wrapped up in my house and my assignments that the only time I could come out was for my uni and to run some errands. I kept distancing myself from everyone. Only a few who had the patience to deal with my stubbornness remained with me.

I started walking towards a park that is near my house. It was right after a slight drizzle so the benches are wet. Nonetheless, I sat on one of the wet benches and relaxed a little. I looked up at the sky and I could see grey clouds hovering on top. The air had the smell of petrichor. It was probably going to rain soon. I felt a huge smile crawl up on my face. It had been so long since I had smiled. I love rain.. Everyone says that there are no sorrows, the rain can't wash away.

My gaze shifted to the small ice cream truck that was parked a few yards away from me. My smile vanished as it reminded me of her. All of this; the park, the ice cream truck and the weather reminded me of her. Suddenly, I started to detest everything which gave me joy, everything in front of my eyes. The rain, the ice cream truck, all of them led to my unforgettable memories of her. This reminded me of my early years with her...

It had only been a few weeks since my first encounter with her. Despite me making the first move by exchanging our numbers, we hadn't made any progress. Apart from a few texts, we hadn't talked much and I blamed it on our busy schedules. I was joking about the busy schedule at first to get her number, but my luck had a mind of its own. So my schedule was jam-packed with long assignments, project works and class tests, due to which I couldn't meet her.

Finally, after weeks, I had some free time, so I decided to take her on a date. I decided to call her up and ask her about her timings too. After spending a considerable amount of time staring at the phone, I picked it up and dialled her number.

After three rings she picked up and squealed a hello. My lips curled from the sides when I heard her high pitched voice and replied, "Hey, do you have some spare time right now?" She sounded tired yet cheerful. "Just a second." I could hear the rustling of some papers and the zipping of a bag so I assumed she had been completing her assignment before I rang her up.

After a second I heard her say, "Yeah! What's up?" I tried to sound casual but my ears turned red from embarrassment, "Uhh... I was wondering... if we could.... you know... go on a date or something...? If you're free?" I spoke an octave lower than my usual voice due to my new found nervousness.

"Uhh... I was wondering... if we could... you know... go on a date or something...? If you're free?" I heard over the phone.

I bit my lip to prevent myself from smiling upon hearing his request. I replied rather quickly, "Sure! I'm down for it. Where do you wanna go?"

He was quiet for a minute as if he was deciding where to go and then replied, "Well... we could go to a park nearby or something?"

I smiled in agreement, "That sounds great! How about the one near the university?"

He replied "Sure! So when do we meet up?"

I replied, "Actually, I'm free right now! What about you?" He said, "I'm free too! Let's meet in an hour?"

"Sure, it sounds wonderful!" I exclaimed in happiness.

"Okay then, it's decided. See you soon!" he said. I could almost see him smile from the other side. I squeaked back a 'see you too' and ended the call.
