The days go by as the two find a balance on this new to both living-together situation.
First, Shin-seul complains because there is no food in the apartment. And Jungkook excuses that he was not there often as he used to stay with his hyungs for most of the times.
Then, Jungkook complains about the smell of paints and glue and other art-related stuff that Shin uses for her dècor class. Those smells give him headaches.
More, Shin complains that Jungkook is convinced he can do anything and better than others, and foolishly believes he is always right. As stubbornness is both their second name, butting each other happens way too many times per day.
Despite everything, there are also many bright sides to their living-together. They love cinema and movies, especially those with lots of fights and battles and 'booms'.
They both love fried foods and often order those delivered.
And lastly, they are martial arts freaks; both would love to spar in the gym room. But they still have to find some time off for that.
One day Jungkook comes back to the apartment earlier than his usual. Bringing some ice cream with him.
He does what he can to spend more of his spare time with Shin-seul and comes back to his apartment when the schedule isn't too tight.
Today they seat together on the terrace, enjoying the breeze as it is a delightful evening to be outside.
One tub each as they exchange them every few spoonfuls.
Eventually, after light-hearted chats, Jungkook attempts asking if she has news from home.
"Shin-a, have you heard from your family? Not that I want you gone. You can stay here as much as you want, truly. I'm just worried about you". He asks, tasting a mouthful of ice-cream.
Shin plays with hers a moment longer, she answers at her own time. "No. Not really. My brother and I texted each other: he's okay. He's so into studying that he doesn't even stay around the house much. My dad is on one of his trips for work and my mother... Actually, I don't want to speak with, or about her."
"Okay", he sighs.
He doesn't want her gone, not at all. But she must face the situation sooner or later. And when the time comes, he'll be there to support her.
In the meantime, he understands she needs more time, and he'll give that to her, but...! She makes him go crazy sometimes. And in a few more ways than one.
It's summertime. Hence it's hot. Jungkook understands that. But Shin walks around the apartment as if she was being at home with her brother.
Like right now. Shorts and tank top.
Jungkook side-eyes her, granting how attractive she looks in those. A tad too much, he thinks while bringing another spoonful of iced deliciousness to his mouth, hoping to cool his spirit.
Shin has always been in his thoughts, friend-like and not, but he has also known since long ago she doesn't feel the same.
"So", Shin begins, licking her spoon clean. "I know your group is quite famous now, and I am forever happy for you. I'm sorry I'm not very much into music... But I support you, always. You know that, right Kookie?" She looks at him with her big expressive eyes.
He stills in her gaze and smiles. "Yes, I know, Shin-a, don't worry. And thank you".
She smiles back. "Maybe, one day, you can get me a ticket or an entry to one of your concerts. Who knows, I may become a full ARMY after that experience". She winks cheerful as Jungkook scoffs playfully.
"But I'm curious," she begins with a dangerous grin, "how is it love going?" She asks. Yeah, just like that, out of the blue.
Jungkook nearly chokes on his ice cream.
Shin laughs in return at his cute embarrassment. "That bad?" She mocks him.
But after swallowing properly, his answer is calm and honest. "Same old, you know? I like her; however, she doesn't see me like that. That's all". He answers, shrugging.
"Oh, are you sure?" Shin's voice becomes gentler.
Jungkook watches as shiny black strands of hair glide over her shoulder, while she scrapes the ice cream thoroughly from the tub, careful not to leave any of that deliciousness behind.
"Yes, I'm sure". He affirms.
Shin nods, assessing the situation. Then she declares nonchalant, "mmm, I am not seeing someone in forever as well... I have already too much to think about, to be honest".
Jungkook stiffens slightly. "Not that I asked you..." he replies shortly, lingering for a moment more on her.
He shifts his gaze quickly, although not enough because Shin catches that.
"What? Do I have ice-cream somewhere?" She smugs dummy.
Jungkook chuckles at her dorky side. "Yes, in your head". He mocks her, also making sure she knows she has gulped down more ice-cream than he has. When Shin glances inside her empty tub and then peeks at Jungkook's, they both laugh together.
"Well, Kookie, I don't know this girl you like, but you have to tell her, and not decide for yourself beforehand".
Jungkook lingers on the sweet smile she wears before attempting a meaningless conciliatory nod.
"Now I'm curious though", she states alarmingly thrilled, "who is she? Do I know her?"
Jungkook inhales as a light pinkish colour warms his cheeks. "It's not that you have to know about all the friends I have... Anyway, I won't tell you... What kind of question is that?" He mumbles.
"Ahah, you're blushing. I'm sure it's a female idol colleague of yours, right? Oufff, I don't blame you, they're all so beautiful..." She continues standing up and walking back inside to throw her now empty tub in the garbage.
All the while Jungkook rolls his eyes and exhales again.
As if I'd even care about them... He thinks.
