I stared at the blank wall as my lungs breathed the musky air in. At first I had wrinkled my nose at the bland room's pungent smell but after being sat in this waiting room for far too long the smell became less violating. Izzy's hand clutched mine tightly, grounding me. I didn't want Jace here. He had seen enough of my brokenness for one week, I didn't need my therapist's office to remind him of my faults. I didn't want him to leave.

"Clary," Jace huffed. "You can't go to see the therapist alone." I had booked the appointment with a therapist included with our health insurance. Luke was prepared to pay for the best of the best but I thanked him and proceeded to book with a Doctor Evangeline. She had good enough yelp reviews and she was free so I was happy. Unfortunately, unsurprisingly, Jace was not keen on leaving him behind while I went to the appointment.
"Jace I am capable of being by myself for more than twenty minutes. I'll be right back after and then you can be as clingy as you would like." I laughed as he tried to give me puppy dog eyes before his face formed into that of a disgruntled toddler."I'm not clingy" he pouted.
"Are too."
"No"
"Yes"
"I'll take Clary to her appointment while you organise with Magnus and Alec our plans for tonight." Our eyes snapped from our staring match to face that of Izzy stood in the door frame smirking at the two of us.
"I know you two aren't biologically related but you both do that same annoying smirk. It's weird. Stop. " I babbled to the adoptive siblings who replied with a laugh before a look of concern washed over Jace's face.
"I still don't feel right not going with you." He stated grasping my hand from across the island where I was perched on a bar stool.
"Jace she'll be fine and plus I need my girlie back you have been hogging her." She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes."No, she is mine. So therefore all her time is mine by default" he now was stood behind me with his arms over my shoulders possessively.
"I knew her first. So she i have dibs." What am I a piece of meat?
"Firstly," I began, removing myself from Jace's grasp standing between the two of them. "I am no one's property so therefore my time is distributed between all my loved ones. And secondly if you are taking me Iz we need to get going before I'm late." I kissed Jace on the cheek before moving toward the door to lead Izzy out.
As we walked out I heard Jace shout for Izzy to drive safely. Knowing full well that Izzy is a reckless driver. Not clingy my butt I laughed to myself before setting up the gps with the address.

Making it to the doctors office in one piece, we sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours. I knew my palms were sweaty so I had expected for Izzy to release me from disgust but instead her grip only tightened.Jace was right about not coming on my own because if it wasn't for the morale support. I would probably have left by now but Izzy kept me rooted in my seat until a woman appeared through a door,
"Miss Fairchild?" She announced looking around the empty waiting room before landing on the two of us. With a reassuring squeeze, Izzy let go of my hand.
"I'll be right here when you get out." She whispered picking up a magazine. I nodded as I stood and followed the woman through the door. We weave through a few corridors before she stops in front of a large wooden door.
"Dr Evangeline is right through there." She stated in the same monotone voice as before. She sat down at a desk to the side of the door I took a second to examine the tall, pencil like woman as she moved her grey eyes onto the computer screen in front of her. Her hair was wiry and very well kept. Not a hair out of place in her mundane bun. I wondered how she did that I can't tame my firey locks to save my life.
Her eyes flashed to me with a bored expression. "Can I help you with something?" I shook my head lightly before shuffling through the large wooden door. There was a squeak as I entered the large room with sparse furniture. In the far left corner, by a large window that coated the room with light, sat a light haired woman with her back to me. Her hair was loose and flowed down her back before stopping at about boob level if it was sat on her front.
"Doctor?" My voice came out meekly but seemed to echo. The woman turned and I noticed how young she seemed.
"Hello, Miss Fairchild. Please take a seat she gestured to the seats placed beside her desk.
"Please, call me Clary." I smiled making my way over to the seat. She seemed nice and her smile was warm she reminded me of my mum slightly. Similar dimples graced both their faces when they smiled.
"Okay, Clary. It's nice to meet you. I'm Doctor Evangeline, but you already knew that. If it makes you more comfortable you can call me Eva."
She was a very jarring difference than her, what I presumed, receptionist. While the woman outside was thin and cold: Eva was on the curvier side with a very warm presence. Her words seem to flow lightly and passively whereas Elsa (I'm going to call her that cause she seems icey) had a seemingly sharpe tongue.I nodded passively as I began to feel restless. I was tapping my foot while Eva explained her process and what seemed to be the terms and conditions. My eyes settled on the art that was hung on the wall opposite me, behind Eva I recognised it it was a replica of one of my favourite paintings the starry night by Vincent Van Gogh it was calming.
"Clary?" My name brought me back to look at her. "Did you hear everything I just said.""Yes, sorry." She looked over her shoulder to see what I was transfixed on and smiled lightly.
"Do you like painting?"
