"You don't have to be here." Thaddeus told me and I shook my head as I squeezed Nevin's hand tighter. We were currently in the High Court room awaiting the trial of Una and Gabriel. Nevin explained to me that Gabriel was her accomplice. She lured him with the promise of a mate and never delivered.
I felt sorry for him; but I wanted to see Una suffer.
"I think it's necessary." I told him and he looked at me before nodding his head. Nevin and I made our way through the audience and we took a seat and watched as Thaddeus took a seat in the front of the front of the room. It was weird and different to a human court. The Wiccan and council sat with their backs facing us and we looked at the guilty or the accused. There was no jury, the councils word was close to law.
"The state presents Lady Fate, Una de La Veva and Alpha of the Mountain Valley pack, Gabriel Stanmore." A voice boomed and Una and Gabriel appeared in brown robes and chains around their hands and feet. "Presiding over the trial Wiccan Thaddeus George, Father Time Claude Hamber, Mother Nature Lady Vanilla la Tella, Head Councilman of the State Coven Peri Vale and Wiccan to be Latrella Haterella." The only visible person was Thaddeus and that was as a result of his seat being the highest.
"Lady Fate, for the genocide of the Waning Moon Pack, attempted murder of the former Wiccan Lance Drake, manipulation of over 300 years, involvement of a non-magic for selfish reasons and personal gain, the involvement of black magic, the theft of the Devil's Blade, murder of numerous non-magics and abuse of power, the State Coven tries you guilty." There were numerous murmurs that could be heard once the voice stopped talking.
"The Wiccan tries you as?" A female voice asked and there was some silence.
"Guilty. Death by Ravens." I frowned.
"What's that?" I whispered to Nevin and he stroked his chin before leaning closer to me.
"Basically, they tie you down in magic sealing chains and someone has to oversee as Ravens pick at you until you die. It's incredibly painful and basically torture." I blinked.
"I almost feel sorry for her." He scoffed.
"Don't."
"Gabriel Stanmore, for aiding and abiding a criminal unknowingly with good intentions the State Coven tries you as not guilty." I let out a breath.
"The Wiccan tries you as?" The same female voice asked and I held my breath. I didn't feel anything romantic for Gabriel but that didn't mean I wanted him to die.
"Not guilty. But not without punishment." Thaddeus' voice was soft and I felt as though I had to strain to hear him properly. "As punishment, you will be stripped of your memories, your rank and your legacy." I blinked. There were a lot of murmurs and I wondered if anyone would oppose him.
"Wiccan, that's a little harsh." Another female said.
"The State Coven shall grant you a mate, alive and well and awaiting you in your new home." He stood. "Case dismissed." People began standing and getting ready to leave when the clanging of chains could be heard and I turned to see Una struggling against the guards.
"You can't do this to me!" She screamed. "I am Lady Fate!" She grabbed the sword from the guard and began swinging it around like a maniac. She was tackled and I stood to see Gabriel on top of her with his hands wrestling her for the sword.
"Enough!" A voice boomed and a man approached them. He grabbed the sword from Una and dragged it across her eyes, blinding her. "Take them away." There was less commotion this time and I watched as they disappeared.
"Can we leave now?" I looked at Nevin and smiled.
"I think so, alls well and ends well right?"
