The lights are off, so I assume no one’s home. As I walk to the door, I see Hannah stepping out.

"Hey, An!" she smiles, and I smile back.

"Did you find your mate?" she asks. I shake my head.

"Congrats! Who is he? Whoever he is, he's nothing compared to mine," she adds confidently. "I found my mate, as you probably heard." She looks at me expectantly, and I nod.

"Congrats," I reply, giving her a tight-lipped smile.

"So, where are you off to?" I ask, trying to be polite.

"Dad organized a dinner with Nick, so I’m headed there. Do you want to come along? Even though Dad might not approve, I can help you," she offers.

"No, it’s fine. I have plans," I lie.

"Okay then, enjoy," she says and heads off.

I switch on the lights and go to my room, flopping onto my bed. Chris is my mate. Then what about Nicholas? Why did I feel like he was my mate? Maybe my wolf got confused since they're twins. My wolf is restless, wanting to go on a run, so I head to the nearby forest, shifting into my white wolf form and taking off into the night.

The moon is a crescent, nearly full, casting a glow over the landscape. I stop by the lake and slowly dip my paw into the cold water. Suddenly, I sense another wolf nearby. Turning, I see a large black wolf with red eyes approach—it’s the Alpha. A familiar scent of chocolate wafts over me.

"Chris?" I mind-link him. He doesn't respond but steps closer, nudging my neck gently. I nuzzle him back, comforted by his warmth.

"I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable earlier," he says, sounding sad.

"I'm sorry, too. I overreacted," I reply, meeting his gaze.

"You're Beta Harry’s daughter?" he asks, recognizing me by my eye color.

"Yes. Please don’t push me away," I plead, moving closer.

"Why would I? You’re my one and only mate," he reassures me, resting his head against my stomach, rubbing it softly.

"It’s just… people always push me away, and they’ve always preferred my sister," I admit, rubbing his side in return.

"So, you’re the daughter Harry never talks about. But I swear, you’re the most beautiful wolf and human I’ve ever seen," he murmurs, nuzzling my snout.

I nuzzle him back, comforted by his words.

"Aren’t your family supposed to be celebrating?" he asks.

"They are celebrating," I sigh.

"Without you?" he sounds angry, and I try to calm him down.

"It’s fine. They’re just not that fond of me," I explain gently.

"Then let’s go to your house. We can celebrate together," he smirks, making me blush.

I lead him back to the house, hopping through my bedroom window. Moments later, he enters too, his presence making my room feel small.

"You can change; I’ll wait outside," I offer, starting to leave.

"You can stay," he replies, and my heart starts racing. I hear him laugh as I quickly step out, heading to the bathroom to grab a towel.

Back in my room, I see him waiting, wearing a small towel.

"I’ll get you some of Richard’s pajamas," I say, hurrying to my brother’s room. I find an unused set and hand them to him, turning around while he changes.

"I’ll wait downstairs," he says as he heads out, and I quickly slip into a pink T-shirt and dark blue high-waisted shorts. Tying my hair into a ponytail, I go down to join him.

"So, should we cook or order takeout?" he asks, smiling.

"I’m a terrible cook, so takeout is probably best," I laugh, sitting beside him as he wraps an arm around me.

"You smell like strawberries," he murmurs.

"And you smell like chocolate," I smile as he plants a gentle kiss on my lips before ordering pizza and Coke.

"When are your parents coming back?" he asks.

"Not until after midnight," I reply, and he nods.

"Netflix?" I suggest, and he nods enthusiastically.

"Let’s go to my room," I say, leading the way. He makes himself comfortable on my bed while I find a movie. Just then, there’s a knock at the door.

"Maybe the pizza’s here," I say, heading downstairs with my card.

When I open the door, I freeze.

"Mate!"
