I walk down and see Dad, Mom, and Hannah waiting for me. Richard comes out from the kitchen. I sit beside them.
“Who exactly is your mate?” Dad asks, and I gulp.
“They both are,” I reply, and Dad laughs.
“Are we fools here? How can they both be your mates?” He slams his hand on the table, making me flinch.
“I’m telling the truth, Dad,” I reply as a tear slips down.
“She is lying, Dad. Nick is my mate, and she wants to snatch him away from me,” Hannah says.
“No, Dad—” I begin, but he glares at me.
“I’m asking you for the last time, Anna. Who is your mate?” he demands.
I gulp hard.
“They both are,” I reply, and he stands up angrily.
“Take her to the basement,” Dad orders, and I stand up.
“But I’m telling the truth!” I exclaim. Two guards come and drag me to the basement.
“Mom, don’t you believe me?” I plead, and she just looks away from me.
“Richard!” I cry out.
“Dad, we can talk this out,” he says, but Dad doesn’t listen. Richard knocks the guards aside and holds me.
“I won’t let you do this to her,” he says.
“Don’t step in between, Ric!” Dad growls.
“I can’t stay silent either,” Richard replies. Dad gives him a tight slap.
“Lock him in his room! He isn’t allowed to go out until I say!” Dad exclaims, and the guards take him away.
Dad grabs me by my hair and drags me to the basement.
“Dad, please!” I cry, but he throws me on the ground.
“Lock her up,” he orders and leaves. I sob, and my wolf is furious. She has always been short-tempered, and I have to calm her down. I don’t let her take control often, as she would end up killing people due to her anger.
I curl into a ball and doze off. I wake up to a splash of water on my face. I look at Hannah, who is dressed like me.
“Hey, sis,” she smiles wickedly.
“Why are you wearing my clothes?” I ask.
“Oh, because now I am Anna,” she replies. “And they belong to me,” she adds.
“They will find out,” I cough.
“Let’s see,” she smirks and walks out.
Soon Dad enters.
“So you know that they both are my mates!” I exclaim.
“Unfortunately, yes. The leaders confirmed it today, and you seem to be their mate. But I can’t let you be the Luna,” he replies.
“Why? They are my mates!” I cry.
“Because Hannah is better than you and deserves to be the Luna. She was born for it,” he replies, and I laugh.
“Then what about me, Dad? Why was I born?” I exclaim.
“Listen, Anna, just accept it. You know she is better than you,” he replies.
“No, Dad, no! I’m bigger, faster, and stronger than her!” I argue.
“But do you know anything about managing a pack? How are you even worthy of being a Luna?” he asks, and I sob.
“But they are my mates, Dad!” I exclaim.
“Until you come out of that thought, you’ll stay here. After that, I’ll send you to Australia. My friend stays there,” he says and leaves.
My wolf growls in my mind, making my head hurt. I just lie there and cry.
Hannah comes in, and I look at her.
“Hey, sis! I’m here to give you good news.” She squats down to my level. “They think I’m their mate, and guess what? They are gonna mark me and make me the Luna as soon as I graduate,” she smiles.
I growl at her, and she just smirks. “Poor you.” She turns to leave.
Now my wolf is angry at her mates too. How can they not differentiate between their mate and her sister?
A week passes, and I try not to become more miserable. Hannah stops by every day to tell me about how much my mates love her. My wolf and I finally decide to go to Australia.
Dad is happy about my decision and prepares for my departure. I wear my yellow sundress and white sneakers. I pack my bag and head to the car. I hug Richard, who is the only one concerned about me. I get in the car. The whole way, I only think about my mates.
Maybe the pack will be happy with their Luna. Everything happens for good. Before I know it, I’m in Australia.
