Nicholas stands there, angry. He growls and grabs my arm. He smells it growling.

“You are my mate!” he growls.

My heart beats so fast I can’t explain.

“That’s not possible!” I pull my hand away. My wolf seems confused, just like me.

“I already have a mate,” I reply, walking backward.

“Yes, Nick, she has already found her mate,” Hannah says as she comes up behind him. I look past him and see that my dad seems angry at me. What did I do?

I just run up to my room and lock the door.

“What happened?” Chris comes to me, looking concerned. I hug him and sob.

“You are my mate,” I cry, and he pats my head.

“Yes, baby, I am yours,” he replies. He carries me bridal style to the bed and lays me down softly. He hugs me, pulling me into his chest.

Someone knocks on my door. I tightly hug Chris.

“Don’t,” I murmur.

“It will be fine,” he pats my hair.

“It’s me. Open the door,” Nicholas knocks softly.

“Is that Nick?” Chris asks, and I stiffen. He softly pulls away from me.

“Let me see,” he speaks softly, and I nod. I sit up on the bed.

Chris opens the door.

“Nick?”

“Chris?”

“What are you doing here?” they both ask each other.

“I’m here for my mate,” Nicholas replies as he comes inside.

“You must have mistaken; she is my mate,” Chris replies.

“What? No, Chris, she is my mate,” Nicholas retorts.

“Didn’t you say Hannah was your mate?” Chris asks.

“That’s because in the morning I met her,” he points to me.

“And I knew she was my mate, but she ran away. Then I met Hannah, who had the same scent and looked similar to her. So I thought Hannah was my mate, but she isn't my mate,” he finishes.

“Maybe you have mistaken her for Hannah,” Chris says. “Because she is my mate.”

“No, Chris, I felt something different when I met her at the hotel. She just didn’t sparkle. But she did.” He comes toward me, and I back off.

“But, Nick—”

“Maybe you confused her for Hannah,” Nicholas replies, seeming to get pissed at his brother.

“Nick.” Hannah comes in and hugs his arm, but he quickly pulls away. Her eyes quickly fill with tears.

“I’m your mate, Nick,” she sobs.

“You are not, Hannah. Your sister is my mate,” he rudely replies.

“How can she be? She already has a mate and maybe has already slept with him,” her tone is degrading, I hear both of them growl. She now sees that Chris is there too.

“Alpha Christopher,” she quickly speaks.

“How dare you talk like that about my mate?” he shouts, making her flinch.

“Sorry, Alpha, I didn’t know she was your mate,” she apologizes.

“She is not. She is my mate,” Nicholas replies.

“Stop messing around, Nick!” Chris seems angry. I quickly hop off the bed and run to him.

“Calm down, Chris.” I hold his bicep. He looks at me and grabs my waist, pulling me into his arms.

“She’s mine!” Nicholas growls. I gulp and look at him.

“Don’t you feel it?” he asks, coming closer. He takes my hand and places it on his chest. I feel the sparks from his touch.

“Don’t you?” he growls, and I flinch.

“You're scaring her, Nick.” Chris pulls my arm away from him.

“Chris, don’t interfere. This is between us!” Nicholas shouts at Chris.

Chris punches Nicholas across his face.

“Chris, don't!” I exclaim before he throws another punch, walking to Nicholas to check whether he is fine. I scan his cheek. His lip is torn and bleeding.

“You feel it too.” He hugs me. I feel the mate bond, but how is that possible? Chris is my mate.

“Get away from her!” Chris pulls me away, but Nicholas only smiles.

“Ask her, Chris, who her mate is,” he says.

Chris turns to me.

“Tell him, Anna, who your mate is,” Chris says.

“Anna.” Nicholas speaks as if trying to see how my name sounds. It makes butterflies flutter in my stomach.

“I don’t know, Chris,” I reply, backing off.

“I feel the bond with both of you,” I say, sitting on the bed.

“I don’t know.” I cover my face.

“Can you two go? I need some time,” I say. After a while, I feel them walk away.

I lock the door and fall on the bed. Moon Goddess, why is this happening to me? I cry.

“Anna, come down. We need to talk,” I hear the angry voice of my father.
