Whitepaw opened her eyes lazily, yesterday's training had been exhausting to her and her muscles ached with pain. Getting on her paws, Whitepaw stretched herself with a yawn. "Hey Whitepaw!" Whitepaw turned around to see Frostpaw, she was a few steps away from her, licking her fur clear. "Good morning Frostpaw." Whitepaw gave her a nod, she looked out of the Apprentice's den but all she could make out was sand in front of the bush. "Where are Brightpaw and Darkpaw?" Whitepaw asked, she was curious to know where they went. It was a little odd that they went out without even bringing Frostpaw or Whitepaw with her. Frostpaw shrugged her shoulders. "They went out to hunt together, their mentors allowed." Frostpaw answered making Whitepaw surprised a little.
Brushing her thoughts away, Whitepaw walked out of the apprentice's den and into the clearing, she could see Fluffytail talking to Spotbird, Spotbird is Brightpaw's and Whitepaw's mother. The two she-cats were talking to each other, they seemed happy. Whitepaw could also see Beekit and Barkkit who were wresting each other, their mother watched close by, letting out a soft purr with happiness. Whitepaw knew that Leopardsnow had a mate, but she doesn't remember the cats name because no one talks about it or doesn't know about it. Her mentor Redberry told her that he remembers Leopardsnow saying that she wants the father's identity to be a secret, she says she doesn't want him in her life. Whitepaw couldn't guess any cat in the Clan who could be Leopardsnow's mate so she supposed it was outside of their Clan.
It could be a MoonClan cat, a kittypet or a rouge... No one really knows besides Leopardsnow herself. "Whitepaw, Whitepaw!" Beekit yowled as he made his way over to Whitepaw with his tiny hind paws bushing him forward to run. Whitepaw could see Barkkit following behind as well. "Yes?" Whitepaw asked with confusion as she watched the two kits in front of her, they looked so tiny. "Can you play with us?" Barkkit asked, his eyes shone like stars as he stared at Whitepaw, Beekit joined in and the two kits stared at Whitepaw with wide pupils in hope she will accept. Whitepaw stared at them, it's hard to say no to eyes like that, and kits know pretty well that their wide eyes full of cuteness are working on Whitepaw. They could pull that up and any cat will say yes to them.
"Alright." Whitepaw sighed, the two kits jumped with joy and Whitepaw watched them with a smile. "I'm a scary MoonClan warrior who entered your camp! Hiss!" Whitepaw said, she showed her teeth and the two kits stared at her playfully, both of them getting in crouch position. "Beekit a MoonClan warrior is here! What do we do!?" Barkkit asked to his brother, Beekit stared at Whitepaw before replying. "We have to attack her! Come on, Barkkit!" Beekit meowed, he leaped on Whitepaw and make his way with his tiny paws on her back, he began to paw-swipe her back, his claws sheathed so he doesn't hurt her. Barkkit joined his brother and began to do the same, Whitepaw fell on the ground with a groan, pretending to be injured. "Ow, ow! How can I defeat these powerful warriors? I'm dying!" Whitepaw said dramatically, she could feel Beekit and Barkkit stopped and Whitepaw rested her head on the ground with closed eyes.
"We did it Barkkit! We defeated a MoonClan cat!" Beekit meowed with pride, she could feel their tiny paws get off of her pelt, she heard their paws make over their way in front of her. "Is she dead?" Barkkit asked with scared and shaky voice as he stared at Whitepaw. Neither of the kits spoke up until Whitepaw opened her eyes to look at the kits, getting startled the both kits jumped and squealed. "Barkkit, Beekit! Come inside now, you played enough today." Leopardsnow called over to them, the two kits tail drooped as they looked at the mother who was watching them from the nursery. "Can't we play more?" Barkkit asked her mother, she shook her head in response making them sad. "You can play later, come in now." Leopardsnow said, and with that she ducked her head back in the nursery.
Barkkit and Beekit stared running over to the nursery until they disappeared out of Whitepaw's sight. "Whitepaw!" Hearing the sound of her name, Whitepaw saw her mentor, she got up on her feet with her felt burning in shame that he saw her laying on the ground of the clearing. Redberry stared at her with confusion before he cleared his throat and began to speak. "We'll go hunt, but before that lick your fur clean. I'll be waiting in the warriors den." Redberry said and Whitepaw gave him a nod, licking her chest fur a couple of times. "Alright..." Whitepaw meowed, she watched him go until he ducked into the warriors den and disappeared out of sight. Whitepaw looked at her fur to find that mostly her stomach was covered in dirt. Sighing to herself, Whitepaw began to lick her fur dry.
As she was cleaning herself, she was halfway done but then she heard a rustle sound of the leaves. Growing confused, she raised her head and looked around, to her surprise she saw Sky's head pop up. Gasping with surprise, Whitepaw got on her feet and rushed over to him, she pushed him back in the bush quickly, Sky moved backwards and he stared at Whitepaw. "What are you doing!?" Whitepaw asked, her eyes were round with alertness and confusion. Sky settled himself on the soft grass and he puffed out his chest proudly. "I've decided to join DawnClan!" Sky announced and Whitepaw stared at him like he's crazy. Whitepaw understands that he wants to join the Clan but he's a kittypet, he doesn't have the skills of a Clan horned cat. "Sky you can't join DawnClan." Whitepaw said making Sky disappointed, he stared at Whitepaw with confusion and shock.
"But-But why?" Sky asked, he sounded so sad and Whitepaw felt bad for him but he's a kittypet, he doesn't have what it takes to be a warrior. "Sky, you're a kittypet. You ... You are used to having a soft life, you aren't build to be a warrior and fight." Whitepaw said, Sky seemed annoyed now and he lashed his tail in anger. "It's just because I'm not Clan born is it?" Sky asked, he stared at Whitepaw with anger. She knew that he really wanted to be a part of a Clan, but he's not built to be a warrior. "It's not just because of that." At her answer, Sky seemed more annoyed. Before Whitepaw could speak, Sky began to talk. "I'll just go then. I see I'm not wanted here." Sky meowed, a growl rumbling up in his throat. He turned around and stared to walk away - back to his Twoleg home.
Whitepaw stared after him sadly, she didn't mean to make him angry or sad, but she just thinks kittypets aren't allowed to join the Clan's, kittypets will always be soft and real warriors will fight and attack with sharp claws in a battle, to put their life at risk for the sake of their Clan. Sighing to herself, Whitepaw turned around and walked back to camp, continuing to lick her fur clean.
