{POV: Third person}
* * *"Hmmm.." Uraraka bites down against her popsicle stick, deep in thought. Deku turns his attention to her, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Don't you think Katsuki's been acting a bit off..?" She asks, biting her popsicle stick as if it's the most delicious piece of food in the world. Deku finishes his popsicle, paying attention to the floor as they sit on the park bench.
"I wouldn't know, Uraraka," he mumbles. That's all she's been talking about. It's always about him. Is she alright?
"I mean, he just agreed without hesitation to me going out to meet you," she continues, completely ignoring Izuku. Uraraka takes a deep breath and sighs, thinking too much doing a great toll on her stamina. She furrows her eyebrows and tucks stray hairs behind her ears, making Izuku blush.
"And ever since that party...he would never not text me if something happened, especially if he had a change of plans and wanted to stay over at Kiri's," She almost whines, dramatically swinging her arms in the air and puffing her cheeks out.
"I wouldn't know, Uraraka..." Deku sighs, chuckling a bit in annoyance. Is this all she's going to talk about? I mean, if so...
"And on top of that it seems like he's avoiding me! He's stuttering and when he sees me I can see him go pale and...and-"
"Hey Uraraka?"
Uraraka takes her hands away from her flustered cheeks, sweat trickling down her face from worry. Her expression softens and she turns her head to Deku.
"Yeah?"
Izuku contemplated whether or not he should ask, asking himself if this is a touchy topic or is Ochako will take this in the wrong way.
"I-I...erm...," he takes a deep breath. "I don't mean this in any rude way but, how could you and kacchan get along? I mean, yeah he's pretty amazing. He's naturally gifted and he's smart and athletic, but I never asked...what do you even see in him? How can he get along with you?! You guys are complete opposites!" Deku stops himself from saying anymore, emotion rising within him. I don't want to make it seem like I'm angry. I'm clearly not. I wouldn't have a reason to...right?
She stares at Izuku, sending blank expression. Then she furrows her eyebrows in thought, looking up at the sky, thinking quietly to herself.
She smiles to herself, as if she found the perfect explanation to life itself.
"It's nothing complicated, really," she explains, her cheeks dusted lightly in pink and she looks down and tucks a strand of auburn hair behind her ear, thinking of her dear friend.
"I love him!"
Izuku's heart drops. His blood runs cold, a sinking feeling travels all the way from his chest to his toes. He can feel his pit drop, down, down, down to the floor. She...L-loves....?
"You see, Deku....I believe love runs deeper than romance. Of course, I've never said it to his face, because he's blow his fuse....but I have an understanding of him. Love is what connects two people, a bond that can't be severed. The day that I met him, I pushed him to the ground and I stood my ground. It was the first time someone has stood up to him. It made him realize that he isn't the only person on earth. That maybe, just maybe, the world doesn't revolve around him.
Love changes you for the better, it's when two people have a deep understanding of one another and their presence alone is what keeps you happy and full," Uraraka cups her hands over hear heart, her eyes fluttering shut.
"He's my best friend. I don't know when, I don't know how, but I knew deep then in that moment that he is my friend. He's the closest friend I have!"
She turns to Izuku, beaming like all her problems were solved. Like she doesn't have a fatal disease. Like she figured out how to solve world hunger. Like she isn't just explaining love to the one guy she loves romantically right then and there. Because that's the affect her best and closest friend, Katsuki Bakugou, has on her. He makes her feel complete.
That's why she stays up awake at night wondering is he's alright, wondering why he's acting odd. If maybe the reason for his odd behaviour was something she did. She enjoys his company because he makes her feel full, he's her best friend.
"Love isn't just romance, I learned taht a few years ago! I learned that there are four types of love: Philia, love between friends, Eros, romantic love...." Uraraka pauses, looking up at Izuku, her eyes glinting. He blushes, taken aback, his eyes landing on her plump, pink lips.
He leans in forward, but he backs away, only barely.
"Y-you know..." he changes the topic, red blooming on his cheeks, covering his freckles. "You sound like me right now. Rambling facts like that...haha..."
Uraraka smiles. "Yeah I guess. Erm..." her cheeks are flushed. What was he trying to do? Was he trying to.....?
She shakes her head and continues her spew. "T-there's also Storge, the love of family...a-and finally Agape, unconditional...." she pauses. Uraraka stops, thinking to Katsuki. I should check up on him after. I've been neglecting him a bit....and he doesn't seem to hang out with his other friends too often. Maybe he's lonely..?
"Unconditional love," she resumes. "I think that's the strongest love, a love between best friends. So yeah...I guess that's just my explanation of how me and Kacchan get along...haha.." Uraraka gets up and throws her popsicle in the garbage, whipping out her phone.
"I should probably check on him now, too!"
She starts to walk away, Deku following shortly after her.
"Bye Deku!" Uraraka says, preoccupied by her phone as her thumbs rapidly shoot across the screen.
"Y-yeah..." he rubs the back of his neck. An unfamiliar anger boils inside of him, along with another faint feeling. He hasn't felt this, at least not this prevalent. What...what is this feeling?!
"Uhm, Uraraka-san!"
Uraraka stops in her tracks and looks up from her phone, about to leave the park.
"Hm? Yeah, Deku-kun?"
He gulps, heat rushing to his cheeks. "I-erm..." the unfamiliar feelings continue to bubble inside of him, seemingly rising as time passes. He shakes his head, pushing those feelings down and plastering a fake smile on his rounded face.
"Nothing. Go make sure K-Kacchan is okay for us," he smiles. Uraraka hogs forward and pulls him in for an embrace. He stiffens up. Has Kacchan ever received her nice hugs? Have they...d-done more?! I'm sure she hugs him constantly....they're always holding hands. If I'd don't know any better I would assume they're a couple....gosh...why am I thinking this way?! What's this weird feeling?!
"Thanks for the popsicles, Deku-kun," she bows. And with a swift turn in her heel, she bolts out of the park, her figure seemingly getting smaller and smaller, travelling farther and farther form Izuku's grasp.
He sighs, hand clutching his shirt, where his heart is. He looks up at the sky, plopping back down on the cold, metal bench. It sends shivers up his spine, along with other unpleasant feelings he's much rather forget.
"Eros..." he exhales, closing his eyes. Blood rushes to his face as a blush creeps on his cheeks, his ears burning with embarrassment from the picture he just visualized.
"Crap..." he uses the back side of his hand to cover his face. "You have the worst timing, Izuku.... but...but I think. No. I know. I like...no. I love her. I love Ochako Uraraka."
