Clay was standing in a pure white room, surrounded by nothingness. It was slightly eerie, but he walked forward all the same. He kept walking until he saw a silhouette. He stopped. The silhouette made its way towards him, until he finally saw who it was.
“Mother?” He said, and his voice kind of echoed around him.
“Why, if it isn't my son.” Said Ruina Stoneheart. Her voice was soft, yet it dripped evilness.
“What are you doing here?” Asked Clay, standing his ground. Ruina took a step toward him.
“I am here to tell you that you are not alone.” She said, but not in the comforting way. A silhouette appeared behind her. Before Clay could do or say anything else, he woke up with a start.
“A dream, just a dream…” he gasped, his heart rate returning to normal. “Another dream. The same one. Maybe I should tell uncle Merlok about this…” He swung his legs out of bed and sat up. He saw his reflection in the mirror on the other side of the room. He was tousle haired and looked exhausted. He got up, put his chainmail on, opened the door as quietly as possible, and trudged out. About halfway through the hall of the Fortrex, he yawned, leaned against a door, and, without meaning to, fell asleep...

Creak.

“Woah!” Clay awoke at the noises as he fell through the door that had opened. He opened his eyes, and saw he was lying on top of-
“Macy?!” He exclaimed, and quickly clambered off her. “I'm so sorry!” He helped her to her feet, then realized he had fallen into her room.
“It's fine. What were you doing there anyway?” She asked. She was wearing her chainmail. Clay went silent, rubbing the back of his neck. Eventually, he spoke up.
“Can you keep a secret?”
Macy grinned.
“You know I can.”
“Good, 'cause I need to tell you something.” He closed the door, and he and Macy sat on the bed.
“So, what's up?” She looked at him with golden brown eyes. Clay started explaining about the dream he had, and how it wasn't the first. Macy was really understanding, making Clay feel better about it all.
“...so now you probably think I'm super childish for wanting to go to Merlok about some dream I had.” Clay concluded, looking at his hands.
“No, Clay, of course I don't think you're childish. I think you're doing the right thing, because it seems suspicious.” Macy said. Clay looked up, smiling.
“Thanks, Macy.”
“What for?” She seemed a little taken aback.
“For being there when I need you.” Macy smiled.
“What are friends for?” She said, then pulled him into a hug. Clay hugged back, then got up. He had almost reached the door when Macy called him.
“Clay?” He turned.
“Yeah?”
“Why are you only telling me, and not any of the others?” She asked. Clay walked back to her, then took her hands in his own.
“Because you’re one of my first and best friends, and I trust you more than anyone else.” He said. Then he smiled and gazed into her eyes. She smiled and gazed back. All this went on for what felt like forever, until they heard a voice.
“Macy - woah, hope I didn't interrupt anything.” It was Robin, a smirk plastered across his face. Clay and Macy immediately let go of each other’s hands and jumped apart, Clay rubbing the back of his neck, Macy playing with her hair, both blushing. There was an awkward silence, then Macy spoke.
“What is it?” Her voice was quiet, and she was determinedly looking the other way.
“Axl told me to tell you that breakfast is ready, and I advise you to get there quickly before he scoffs everything.” Robin said, a small smirk still on his face.
“Oh, right, we'll be there in a minute.” Said Macy, and Robin left. Clay got up again, walked to the door, then paused again.
“When I go see Merlok about this, could you come with me? It would make me feel better about it.” He asked, looking her in the eye.
“Of course, Clay.” She said, and Clay smiled and exited the room. The moment he left, Macy lay spread eagle on her bed, sighing dreamily.
