Clay, Macy and Phoebe neared the Fortrex after a short journey from the woods. As they got closer, Phoebe stared up in awe, and Clay smiled at her reaction. They stopped outside the drawbridge, and Phoebe hopped off her steed. She gave it and apple, whispered, “Come back later, ok?” Then watched as it galloped off. Clay and Macy turned to her.
“Welcome to the Fortrex!” Said Clay.
“Wow, it's...huge!” She spread her arms wide, indicating how big it is.
“Believe me, it's even bigger inside.” Said Macy, and she lead the way inside. They went to the control room first. Ava, Robin and Merlok were talking when the trio walked in. Merlok smiled in delight.
“Phoebe!” He yelled.
“Uncle Merlok!” Phoebe beamed from ear to ear and waved. Ava and Robin exchanged confused looks.
“Huh?” Ava said.
“Phoebe, this is Robin and Ava.” Said Clay, gesturing to them.
“Hello.” Phoebe waved.
“Er, no offense, but who are you?” Asked Robin.
“Robin, Ava, this is Phoebe Moorington, my niece.” Said Merlok.
“Niece?!” Shouted Robin and Ava at the same time. “You have a sister?!” They turned to Clay.
“Turns out I do.” Said Clay, shrugging.
“What's all the shouting about?” Asked a voice, and they all turned to see Aaron, Lance and Axl in the doorway. The voice belonged to Lance, who was in front.
“Who's this?” Asked Axl. Aaron said nothing, which was unlike him. He just stood and stared at Phoebe, like he couldn't take his eyes off her.
“This is my sister, Phoebe.”
“Sister?!” They blurted out at the same time.
“Hey,” said Phoebe, waving at them.
“Hello there,” said Lance, stepping forward, “Lance Richmond, handsome and wealthy knight, how would you like me to show you around?” Macy hit him on the arm. “Ow!”
“Um, no thanks, I'm good.” Said Phoebe, taking a small step back.
“Anyway, that's Lance, that's Axl, and this is Aaron.” Clay walked over to Aaron, who raised his hand.
“Hey…”
“Hi, it's really great to meet you all.” Said Phoebe, smiling around.
“Yo Phoebe, you use a bow?” Aaron spoke properly for the first time.
“Oh, um, yeah, I do. I forgot I had that on…” She removed the bow and quiver of arrows from her back and placed it at her feet.
“I do too. Well, I use a crossbow, but same difference, am I right..?” Aaron trailed off, not really knowing what to say.
“You'll have to show me sometime.” Said Phoebe, smiling at Aaron and making him go a little pink in the cheeks.
“Anyway, would you like me to show you around?” Clay asked Phoebe.
“Yes please,” replied Phoebe, and Clay took her on a tour around. She was fascinated by everything.
“...and this is the Holo Training room.” Clay walked into the large room, Phoebe at his heels.
“Training room? But it's empty.” Phoebe pointed out.
“Not for long.” Clay said, and he pushed a button on the wall. At once, the street of Grindsted blipped in around them. Phoebe's eyes went wide.
“Woah, it's so fascinating!” She exclaimed.
“Why’s technology so fascinating to you?” Clay said, laughing at her excitement.
“Technology? Is that what you call it?”
“You've never heard of technology?”
“No. I've lived in the middle of a forest my entire life. I have no idea what all this is.” Said Phoebe, touching the wall in awe.
“Then you've got a lot to learn.” Clay was still laughing, but was cut off as Phoebe ran at him and wrapped him in a hug. He slowly hugged back.
“Thanks, Clay, for showing me all this. It's so wonderful to know you have such great friends.” She said, then added quietly, “And to know that you actually remember me.”
“My life has probably improved now that you're here.” Said Clay, pulling away. Then Axl came walking in.
“Dinner's done.” He said, and left.
“Wait, what's the time?” Phoebe asked rather worriedly.
“Six O'clock,”
“Oh my goodness! I completely lost track of time! I need to get back to my animals!” Phoebe shrieked and ran to the door, along the hall and out of the Fortrex. She let out a high pitched whistle, and her horse came galloping out of nowhere. She jumped on, and turned to Clay, who had followed her out. “I've had a brilliant day, probably the most exciting of my life.” She smiled.
“When can I see you again?” Clay asked.
“How about tomorrow? If you have time, that is.” Replied his sister.
“Yeah, ok. Can I bring my friends, so they can get to know you a bit more?”
“That sounds great. And it was great meeting you. See you tomorrow.” She raised her hand in farewell and pulled on the reins. The horse reared, then galloped off on direction of the Dark Wood. Clay smiled, then headed back inside, hands in his pockets.
