"Alex, no."
"Alex yes."
"Alex, no."
"Alex yes."
"No. No way."
"You're making a mistake."
"Good-bye."
Alexander was trying to encourage Aaron to join the Debate Club with him, but Aaron just walked away to go to class. Alexander rolled his eyes and got his stuff from his locker. 'This was it. First day of Grade 7. Woah, it's just my 2nd year of middle school? I feel like I've been here my whole life, but that's okay. The more I learn, the better' he thought to himself.
As soon as he went to class, he saw John Andre. Alexander glared at Andre and Andre glared back. Alexander took a seat near the teacher's desk.
After what seemed forever of introductions, it was recess. Alexander walked to his locker, but bumped into someone with hair that looked like a sea urchin (I am so sorry).
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" said the person that Alex bumped into. Alexander said "Sheesh, I'm sorry... Guess you should've watched where you were going too..." as quietly as he can while trying to avoid looking at him, but he kept getting blocked.
"Don't you know who I am?" asked the boy, who seemed to be the same age as Alexander. Alex shook his head and the boy said "I am Thomas Jefferson, vice president of the Debate Club." Alexander's eyes quickly widened when he heard the word 'Debate Club'.
"How can you be the vice president when club hasn't even started?" Alex questioned. Thomas gave him a dirty look and just replied with "I'm obviously the perfect fit for it. Plus, everyone cheered for me last year." Then he walked away.
Alexander quickly went to the register. He signed up for the Debate Club, he was going to prove Thomas wrong. He gave the receptionist the payment and quickly left.
After school, Aaron noticed Alexander frowning and decided to not ask about it.
"I can't believe that Thomas is confident about being elected..." Alex mumbled. Suddenly, his eyes lit up and looked over to Aaron, saying "Say, Aaron, can you please join Debate Club? There's this student, Thomas, who is running for vice president and I really REALLY want to prove him wrong. I need you so that you can vote for me! So, what do you say?" Aaron rolled his eyes and gave up "Fine, but only because you keep nagging me about it." Alexander smiled and the day went on normally.
