Chapter 39

"Let's go uncle." Sehun said when closed the door and sat besides me. My eyes shot up to take a peek at our rearview mirror, Irene and Eunwoo are sitting apart at the back, as if the one nearest to the door would win some trophy.

The engine started and uncle reminded us to fasten our seatbelts. While driving we were silent, the only noise that's audible is the sound of our air conditioner blowing cold wind around us.

Unlike Irene and Eunwoo who's afraid of catching some contagious disease, Sehun and I sat comfortably next to each other.

I think we didn't even need to turn the AC on.

I got my phone out and texted brother. I know Sehun already asked our parents but just to be sure that he won't feel 'left out' of my matters again.

I told him that we'll be having a welcome party to one of our friend, I also typed in the address and when we'll go home. I think that's enough.

"Uncle how many more minutes?" I asked, putting my phone on my lap. Uncle looked at the rearview mirror and then fixed his eyes on the digital clock near the AC.

"Just 20 more minutes miss." I smiled and nodded. I leaned back, relaxing my muscles. Turning to Sehun who's holding a closed book, he mimicked how I'm sitting and opened his book.
"Why don't you rest for a while. You've been reading that book for days now." Even I'm not reading it and I already felt nauseous watching the same book cover. He turned to me only to chuckle, I pouted and reached for the book and closed his book shut.

"Rest."

"You know why I'm reading it right?" He raised his brows, I rolled my eyes and nodded.

"Of course I do, but I'm also getting sick watching you read it." He smiled and licked his lower lip in the process, moistening it.

"Fine. I'll read it once we get home."

"Good." I let go of the book and he placed it out of my sight. Hopefully for good.

We remained silent after that, he's now taking a short nap while the people at the back were not moving an inch! Eunwoo was checking his phone facing the window and Irene was also just looking out of the window.

My phone vibrated so I checked the message, turns out it's just from brother who said he got the message and thanked me for the update. I just replied with a cute emoticon.

"We're almost there sirs and miss." I looked outside the window and saw Minnie's car outside of the place we decided to have out celebration. I then turned to Sehun, I feel so sad for him since he looked like he's really in deep sleep now but I had to wake him up. Placing my palm on shoulder I shook him gently.

"Sehunie." I called his name, his eyes slowly opened blinking for a few times to regain his clear sight and sat straight.

"Sorry." He turned to me to smile and sleepily shook his head.

"It's okay Sejeong-ah, let's go?" He unbuckled my seatbelt when uncle told us it's okay and he unbuckled his. Soon after he stepped down and kept the door open, his hand reached inside and I accepted it. Pulling myself up to get out of our car.

"See? That's why I avoid riding with them." Hana laughed pointing at us and hurrying Eunwoo and Irene to go out.

We all got out of the car and went in the place together.

"This is the first time I'm going to a place like this." Sally exclaimed when we step foot inside. The place was dimmed with a warm yellow light spreading throughout the lounge, with one extravagant chandelier at the center. A few doors in sight with random lights flickering inside the rooms.

Ah I missed this place.

"I already got our room." Minnie raised the room ID and excitedly waved it.

"I heard some of our new classmates come here to have fun so I want to try it all with you." She explained. I smiled at how cute she looked like a child going to an amusement park for the first time.

"I never would have thought I'd be going here either." Selen remarked as Timothy followed her around.

While walking to our room I checked my wristwatch it's already 5:30, not much time is left.

Minnie opened the room, a bright pink flashed and we have to adjust our eyes. The moment I saw three big flatscreen TV's connected together attached on the wall I suddenly felt nostalgic, the flashing lights on the corner of the room, the big sofa and a long short table.

The others went inside in excitement, touching the accessories and wireless microphone. Suddenly everyone went wild, I couldn't help but join their excitement. I went to Minnie and helped her put on a strange curly wig

"Seje, this is so itchy!" She laughed while I tried to fir it on her. I then got the maracas and shook it to produce the sound. I went to Sehun and put on a devil hairband on him, I chuckled when it fell on his forehead since the hairband was a bit bigger for his head. He smiled and pull it up, fixing it on his head.

"Oh so we choose the songs here." He opened the songbook and placed his finger on the page, scanning for his song. He stopped and went to the tablet on a stand and typed in his song.

"This is so fun!" Selen hyped Timothy up and started dancing to the song, this song was just released recently by a popular singer!

"Candy candy!" We chanted. The buzzer on our table vibrated, we stopped being loud and looked at it. Minnie then clapped her hands.

"Oh we called them earlier so our food should be ready." The moment she informed us, a knock came from the door and it opened, the staff brought in our food on the table. The sweet aroma of each dish mixed together, creating a loud rumble inside my stomach. I gulped and looked at the steaming pizza infront of me.

"Why don't we eat first?" I proposed.

"Ah yes!" Minnie nodded and we sat on the sofa, I'm salivating at the delicious food in front.

"So this is a celebration for our new classmate, Irene! Um may we have a blast in our sophomore year and that we'll continue to be good friends!" Minnie cheered. We clapped our hands together, all attention were at the celebrant.

"Irene?" Hana tugged her when she didn't respond.

"Ah."  Her pale face illuminated well on this dark dimmed room, she smiled as her eyes disappeared in the process, showing her pearly white teeth with her cheekbones popping out.

"Thank you everyone. I don't deserve this kindness from all of you but I'm so happy now so don't mind me if I want to thank you guys for this celebration." She bowed her head, her straight black hair falling on her side. We clapped again.

"Ah Sejeong!" Sally called, handing out the sparkling water.

"Thanks!"

"Hm?"

I received the drink from Sally. I froze for a second and fondled the cold glass with my palm, my eyebrows met as my growing suspicion became visible on my face.

I slowly turned to Irene, her eyes widened. She hurriedly took the glass of water in front of her and drank it straight. She didn't look at me but just continued drinking the water.

"Sejeong-ah." Her eyes fluttered when Sehun called my name and she halt drinking the water. The dimmed lights didn't let me see her eyes.

I don't know if I'm the only one who heard her say it but when Sally called me...did she just respond?
