Lux's eyes glazed over slightly, gazing off into the golden sky.
The Togruta girl danced through his every thought. Lux couldn't help grinning as he imagined her plump lips curling into a smile, soft and warm rather than the cold scowl she had flashed him before. He had never seen eyes so blue, or lashes so thick on another. To put it simply, she was very beautiful.
The back door sliding open and shut behind him alerted Lux to reality. He didn't turn around, knowing it must have been a gardener, or perhaps his mother calling him inside.
However, he did not hear the clacking heels his mother often wore. The footsteps were soft and light, slowly making their way down the staircase.
He was tempted to look around, heart jumping in circles at the possibility that it was her, the beautiful stranger. He restrained himself still, hoping to hide his excitement.
Breathe, Lux, breathe. he thought. You want to make a good impression.
He heard the soft footsteps approach his place on the banister, turning his head slightly towards the sound. His heart jolted at the sight of the Togruta's slender figure passing on the stairs.
She didn't meet his gaze, eyes trained on the step before her.
Lux took the opportunity to gaze upon her form with admiration. A cutout in her dress exposed her smooth, orange back, soft hands clasped behind her.
He felt some slight guilt as his gaze threatened to lock on the swell of her hips. Despite his adoration for her, Lux preferred to show a little respect for the lovely stranger.
His better judgement still wavered slightly as his gaze was drawn back by a flash of metal. A long silver object dangled from her belt, bouncing against her leg as she walked.
Lux's eyes widened slightly as he realized what it was.
"You're a Jedi, aren't you?" he asked tentatively.
The girl stopped, turning to him with a slightly softer look than in their first interaction.
"Yes. Why do you ask?" she replied coolly.
Lux exhaled softly. Speaking to her came easier than he had expected.
"Before the war, I was always told Jedi were good."
She raised an eyebrow marking. "And now?"
He jumped off the banister, meeting the girl's blue gaze with feigned calm.
"I don't know anymore." he replied, walking down the stairs toward her. "There are a lot of terrible things happening. A lot of killing. And now my friends are saying the Jedi are to blame."
An unexpected little smirk turned up the corners of the Jedi's lips as she turned back to walk, a few paces before him.
"I'm the first Jedi you've ever met, aren't I?" she said, laughter in her voice.
Lux felt heat rise to his face, slightly nervous. He tripped over his words, looking at his feet as he followed her.
"Well...ehm...yes." he replied.
The girl stopped, turning to face him with a broad grin. Lux's heart skipped a beat. It's even more beautiful than I imagined.
"Look at me." she said, crossing her arms over her chest smugly. "I'm not so bad, am I?"
Lux had a thousand things to say in response as his eyes roved over her. You're beautiful, you're gorgeous, may I hold your hand?
"No," he choked out. "not bad at all."
Her smile vanished, just as his did.
Kark, she meant that rhetorically?"Ugh." she groaned, rolling her eyes. "Well, it seems boys are the same whether they're Republic or Separatist."
Lux panicked as she turned away, rushing after with a sharp "Wait."
As he caught up, Lux felt a confident smirk spread over his face.
"How many Separatists have you met?"
She looked at him with a confused raise of her white brow marks. "What?"
Lux felt a slight bit of arrogance taking a hold of him as they approached the gazebo.
"Well, I mean, you think we're all the bad guys," he added. "but how many of us have you actually met?"
The Jedi thought for a moment. "Well, other than military officers like Grievous and Ventress...none, I guess. You and your mother are the first."
Lux smiled, turning to her to spread his arms dramatically. "Well, look at me." he replied smugly. "Am I so bad?"
