Ahsoka's eyes darted to her boots, heat rising in her cheeks.
"Well? Am I?" teased Lux.
Well played, Bonteri.
She pushed past him into the gazebo, white markings darkening to a pale orange. "Very funny, loverboy."
She sat down angrily on the edge of the fountain, avoiding Lux's penetrating gaze. As with a split-second glance, she instantly felt a twinge of guilt. His pale, thin lips were set in a sad line, eyes sadly facing the floor.
"Sorry.." he mumbled, sitting himself a foot away from her.
Taking pity on the boy, she flashed him a kind smile, giving him a playful poke in the shoulder.
"It's all right." she assured him. "I.....might've asked for it. Just a little."
Lux grinned apologetically, shrugging. "Either way, I'm sorry." he replied. "For earlier, too. I...I didn't mean it or anything."
Ahsoka raised her brow markings at him.
A sudden moment of realization crossed Lux's face as he understood what he'd said.
"Oh! OH. N-no, I did mean it!" he blurted out. "I mean, I do think you're....well..you are attractive, I did mean it, but I didn't mean to...to make a move on you or anything.....I just-"
"Hey."
"Shutting up."
Ahsoka giggled, cheek markings darkening slightly, while Lux's pale face reddened.
"Can we....." Lux whispered. "....can we just start over?"
Ahsoka extended her hand to the boy, smiling warmly. "Padawan Learner Ahsoka Tano."
Lux gripped hers firmly, giving it a soft shake. "Lux Bonteri. A pleasure to meet you, Miss Tano."
She raised a white brow marking. "Pleased to meet you as well, Lux, but you can call me Ahsoka."
He nodded. "As you wish, Miss Ahsoka."
The Padawan felt her cheeks grow hotter. "Just Ahsoka."
In turn, Lux went completely red. "Ah."
They sat for a moment in silence after he released her hand, Ahsoka feeling like she might burst from all the heat rushing to her cheeks. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a dreamy look glazing over his eyes as he stared at his own hand. As he caught her gaze, they both looked away with another blush.
"Right then." exclaimed Lux. "As you are staying with us for the next day or so, I feel I must ask why."
Ahsoka turned toward him with a curious smile. "Padme wanted to teach me about politics, so I guess she brought me here."
Lux nodded. "What have you learned so far?" he joked, crossing one leg over the other as he inched closer.
She shrugged. "I don't even know why this war started. I just think these losses just feel...... pointless."
"You too?" Lux replied sadly, staring at his feet.
With a sigh, Ahsoka inched closer to him.
"I heard about your father." she whispered. "I'm really sorry."
Lux couldn't meet her eyes as she looked at him sadly. Ahsoka could sense his emotions a mile away, no matter how he tried to hide it.
"It doesn't matter." he muttered. "I'm fine."
You can't lie to a Jedi.
Lux cleared his throat, brushing back a microscopic flaw in his hair.
"What is it like, being a Jedi?"

Lux listened for two hours as she told him all about the Jedi she worked with, the temple, the gardens, her responsibilities.
However, the young Separatist found it hard to focus when she laughed.
It was bright, soft, gentle and sharp all at once. Lux had never heard a sound that had made him smile so widely.
They were rudely interrupted soon after, by his mother's voice calling out from the stairs. Dinner would be ready soon.
Can't it wait? thought Lux.
Ahsoka stood up, broad smile still on her face. Much to Lux's surprise, she ruffled his hair softly before leaving.
"There." she exclaimed. "Now I think I have my answer."
Lux tried vigorously to push his hair back into place, but the damage was done. He took pride in the way his hair looked and couldn't help feeling a little annoyed.
"W--what?" he sputtered.
"You're not so bad." she replied, elbowing him playfully. "Not bad at all."
