Snowy stood on top of one of the seats as the cool air blew in his face while next to him the captain stood up, looking ahead as seagulls flew in the background.
" Shouldn't you be sitting down?" Ana asked from her spot in the back seat as Tintin drove to the coordinates on the scrolls.
" Ah, I'll be fine! We're almost there! Just a nudge to starboard should do it."
" Are you sure we're on course?" Tintin asked as he sped down the road.
" Trust me, laddie! I know these parts like the back of my hand... Starboard! Quickly! Quickly!"
" Aye Captain! Starboard it is!" Tintin said, driving off the road and through some bushes before they pulled to a stop outside of Marlinspike hall.
" All Stop!" the captain yelled, although the car had already come to a stop." Marlinspike hall..."
" The coordinates led us here," Ana said, getting out." This is where the treasure is? All the gold and jewels from the tale are here? I find that difficult to believe."
" Master Haddock, Mr. Tintin, Miss. Smith, I've been expecting you," Nestor said, standing at the door before leading the group in." Welcome to Marlinspike hall."
" Will you look at this place?" Haddock looked around in awe." I don't think it's changed at all since I was a wee boy."
" And may I say, sir, how much I'm looking forward to having a Haddock back in charge of the estate."
" Well you'll be waiting a long time Nestor, there's no way I can afford to live here."
" Well Captain," Tintin said." You know the house, where do we start?"
He thought for a split second." Is the cellar still here?"
Nestor nodded and led Haddock, Tintin, and Ana down into the cellar. Haddock paced around for a minute in confusion.
" No no no, this isn't it... I meant the other cellar!"
" I'm sorry sir there is no ' other cellar'."
" It was bigger than this!"
" Snowy..." Tintin said, turning away for the conversation and looking for his dog." Snowy where are you?"
The group approached Marlinspike hall's guard dog, who was staring at one of the room's walls, growling. Nestor held the dog back by its collar as Tintin and Ana both headed to the pile of furniture in the direction the large dog had been staring and began to move the old furniture out of the way.
" Captain, help us," Tintin said as he and Ana had begun to throw what was blocking the soon revealed hole in the wall out of the way." Snowy..."
The dog poked his head through the place in the wall where bricks were missing, showing the others where the remainder of the cellar was.
" Just like you said, Captain. You hit a wall..."
" You push through it."
The three took hold of a large wooden pillar that was lying around and worked together to break through the brick wall, opening the closed-up space.
" My grandfather must've walled it up before he lost the house," Haddock said in amazement as they entered the room.
Ana and Tintin both dropped the pillar." And then shines forth the eagles cross..." Tintin said, approaching the statue at the other side of the room.
" I can see the cross but where's the eagle?"
" That's St. John the Evangelist," Ana explained to the confused captain." He always was depicted with an Eagle and was known as ' The Eagle of Patmos' we aren't looking for an actual eagle, he's the eagle we're looking for."
" What's he trying to tell us, captain? I'm at a loss."
Haddock bent down next to the globe." That island, that one in the middle, that doesn't exist."
Tintin and Ana exchanged a glance." How do you know?"
" Because I've sailed those waters, countless times I've been there it's- it's a mistake."
" What if it isn't?" Ana and Haddock both turned to look at Tintin." Sir Francis wanted his inheritance to go to a man who's worthy of it. A man like himself, who knows the seas like the back of his hand, a man who could look at a globe and tell if one tiny island... was out of place."
Haddock looked back down at the globe and pressed down on the non-existent island before the top of the globe popped off, smacking him in the face as both Ana and Tintin leaped away to avoid suffering the same fate. The three all turned back to the globe and looked inside the globe.
" Blistering treasure!" Haddock said as Tintin pulled out a handful of gold." It's Red Rackham's barnacles... what is this?" He pulled out the hat all the gold and jewels were lying inside and brought it over to a bowl before pouring all the treasure out of the hat and putting his ancestor's hat on as Tintin looked into the globe to find one final thing.
Nestor approached the three with a tray in his hands as well as three glasses of champagne. Haddock happily approached and took the three glasses in his hand as Tintin cleared his throat.
" Just a wee tipple, a toast! To our good fortune." Haddock drank his entire glass quickly." That's better... it's odd really, you would've thought after all the fuss and bother there would've been more-" he took Tintin's glass as well drank all the champagne in that one as well.
" More of what?"
" Red Rackham's treasure!" Haddock took Ana's glass and drank all of that one." I mean by your account he looted half of South America, I just thought- ah never mind there's plenty to go around. It's a funny life eh? You've got your story for your News Paper. All's well that ends well.
" It's not ended," Tintin said, pulling the scroll that he'd taken from the globe out of his pocket." Sir Francis left another clue at the bottom of the globe."
" A clue to what?"
" Four hundredweight of gold, just lying at the bottom of the sea... how's your thirst for adventure, Captain?"
Haddock smiled." Unquenchable, Tintin."
Tintin turned to his assistant." Ana?"
" I'm with you guys, after all, we do work together."
Quick A/N: I hope everyone enjoyed this story! I was originally planning on writing three chapters of this story today before realizing ' wait a moment... there are only two chapters left to write' so here's the second and final chapter! I'm going to label this as ' completed' for now but when the Tintin sequel comes out I will continue this story for that one as well.
