"It's going to be so cool," Biana ranted when Sophie, Linh and Maruca had come over to her house for a sleepover. "There'll be beautiful lighting, the tables will be perfect, and the food will match the theme."

"What is the theme, exactly?" Sophie asked from her spot on Biana's fluffy, pink bed.

Biana and Linh's eyes sparkled as they exclaimed, "Paris!"

Sophie smiled. "That's a great idea,"

"I know right," Biana said, bouncing around her room. "The Seniors tried to be generic and go with a masquerade themed prom, but as soon as Linh and I suggested Paris they were head over heels."

"Really?" Maruca said, crinkling her nose. "They wanted a masquerade ball?"

"That's exactly what we thought," Biana said, looking at Linh. "Like, who wants to kiss their prom date if they have a mask on? It would be kind of awkward,"

"I agree," Maruca said with a shrug.

"Why are we talking about kissing?" Sophie complained, trying to have a regular sleepover.

Biana rolled her eyes, but she still looked excited. "It's not a big deal," Biana said with a shrug. "But I guess we can stop if it's making you uncomfortable."

The way Biana had said it made Sophie roll her eyes, but after that, they were back on track and talking about Prom.

"Have you been asked by someone yet?" Linh asked Maruca as the three of them climbed onto Biana's bed with Sophie.

Maruca nodded. "They have, but I rejected all of them. There isn't really someone I would date at school, you know?"

"I agree," Linh said. "All the guys I've liked are gone,"

"Oooooh," Biana said, batting her eyelashes at Linh. "Does that mean you like someone outside of school?"

Linh's face turned red. "Maybe,"

Biana, Maruca and Sophie all knew that Linh liked Wylie, but that didn't stop Maruca and Biana from trying to get her to confess it out loud.

"Why don't you cut the girl some slack," Sophie said, pausing their interrogation.

"Fine," Biana said, turning to Sophie. "Has Fitz asked you to Prom yet?"

Sophie bit her lip before mumbling, "No,"

"Ugh!" Biana exclaimed. "I really need to have a talk with that brother of mine. He's so dense!"

"I'm sure he'll ask you," Linh said, giving Sophie a sad smile. "Maybe he's just nervous—or maybe he's trying to find just the right prom-posal,"

Sophie sighed. "If it's taking him this long, I'd rather him just say, 'hey Sophie! Wanna go to prom?'."

"Well, Fitz has always been complicated," Biana said with a shrug. "In fact, boys have been complicated since the dawn of time."

"I think they think the same thing about us," Maruca said with a laugh.

Biana crinkled up her nose. "We're not that complicated." She said. "All we really want is someone that will care about us,"

The three of them agreed before Biana decided that they'd had enough of Prom planning and that they were going to start giving out make-overs.

"I nominate Sophie first," Maruca said, shooting Sophie a smug smile.

"Please don't," Sophie said, hiding under the abundance of pillows. "It makes my face feel stiff and my hair feel the same exact way."

"Too bad!" Biana exclaimed, grabbing Sophie and pulling her off the bed—with the help of Maruca and Linh. "You're going to look gorgeous when we're done!"

"Did you have a good time?" Grady asked the next evening after Sophie had gotten back from her sleepover.

"Yep," Sophie said, dropping her bags in the living room and sitting down next to him. "It was awesome,"

"That's good," He said with a nod before a grin spread across his face. "Let me guess: you talked about boys and crushes and make-up all weekend."

Sophie shook her head. "Actually the main topic was Prom plans," She told him. "And there was a bit of everything else—but mostly Prom."

Grady nodded. "Are you going to Prom? I know Sophomores can't go by themselves, but has Fitz asked you?"

"Not yet," Sophie said, trying not to let it bother her. "And I'm worried because Prom's only two weeks away."

Grady nodded. "Don't worry, he'll ask you,"

"How do you know?" Sophie asked, staring at her dad like she'd never seen him before.

This was not average Grady.

"Because," Grady started, wrapping an arm around her and smiling. "I may not like the fact that you have a boyfriend, but you're beautiful and talented. Why wouldn't Fitz ask you to Prom?"

Sophie grinned. She loved both of her parents so much. They were always there for her when she was upset and she could always tell them anything. They gave her space when she needed it and they gave her great advice that helped her tackle any problem.

They were the best parents in the world.

"Thanks dad," Sophie said, pulling him in for a hug.

"You got it kiddo,"

Sophie smiled before pulling back and standing up. She grabbed her bags and ran upstairs. She unpacked all of her stuff and put it in its right place before she took a long shower.

Afterwards, she went downstairs and ate dinner. After she was done she stayed in the living room and watched all of the Marvel movies in order with her parents. It took them all night—fifty hours—and by the time they'd finished, it was nighttime again.

It wasn't like they were wasting time because they had a break that Monday, but Edaline had sent them all to bed as soon as the marathon was over.

And Sophie was more than happy to oblige.

Sophie also hadn't looked at her phone for the past forty-five hours, so when she turned it on, she realized that she had tons of messages.

One of them was from Fitz:

It read: Hey, do you want to come over to my house tomorrow?

And Sophie smiled before typing: I'll be there!

As Sophie slept, she dreamed of happy things. Maybe things were finally going right.
