Don't Leave ~ Dukeceit

Prompt by @/sanderssides_prompts on IG. Prompt: Remus gets into a fight with Janus because he's scared that he'll leave like Virgil did.

Janus returned incredibly happy, and at first, Remus thought the best of it. But when the snake side told him what happened, the one in charge of intrusive thoughts didn't... didn't really got excited. 

"I got accepted! I can become a light side!" Janus excitedly said. "I mean, sure, if I work hard enough to make Logan and Virgil trust me, and then there's Roman, who I really, really need to apologize to, but Patton and Thomas accepted me! It's a start, isn't it?!"

Remus' eyes widened in shock and he blinked repeatedly. He gave a soft, unaudible gasp, and managed to prevent his eyes from flooding in tears.

"Virge? Wh-where are you going?"

"Re-Remus! Hi- uhm- I-"

"What's going on?"

"...I can't stay here anymore."

"...What? Wh-what do you mean?"

"Remus, this isn't my purpose! I-I... I don't want to be a dark side anymore!"

"But what about me and Jan? Are you going to... t-to abandon us?"

"...I don't hang out with bad guys. I found my purpose. To be with them. They love me. In a way you never will."

"...Get out."

"R-Remus, I-"

"GET THE FUCK OUT THEN! GO AND STAY THERE, WHERE IT'S FUCKING SUNSHINE! GO! LEAVE!"

"Remus? Is everything okay?"

Remus snapped back to reality after the horrible flashback of Virgil leaving played. He looked up and his eyes met with Janus', which were showing pure concern.

"...I really thought you were different."

"W-what?"

"You're leaving, aren't you?"

"What? N-no! The best for Thomas-"

"WHEN WILL THE BEST FOR THOMAS END? HUH? What about us, wh-what about me, don't I matter, don't I get a say in this?!"

"Of course you matter, Remus, but I-"

"All you guys do is leave! All of you, leave, leave, leave!" Remus shouted, tears starting to go down his cheeks. "I'm ready to bet my fucking mace that when T will be introduced, he'll immediately transform into fucking Calmness and leave me here, all alone, in the fucking dark, the only one who will be labeled as evil will be me!"

By the end of his rant, the Duke was a sobbing mess, his face all red from the tears and anger he let out, his make-up ruined, running down his cheeks along with his tears.

"R-Remus-" Janus said, trying to gently place his hand on the his boyfriend's cheek, but Remus furiously snatched it off him.

"Get back!" he cried. "Just fucking leave already and make this less painful than it needs to be!"

"Remus-"

"JUST GO AND LEAVE ME LIKE EVERYBODY D-"

"REMUS!"

Remus looked up, softly panting, and once again, their eyes met. Janus managed to put his hand on the Duke's cheek this time, after taking his glove off, this time, and softly said, "Remus, I'm not leaving. I never will."

"...B-but... but you said-"

"I said I got accepted, Re. I didn't say I'm going to leave."

"B-but you said you can become a light side and-"

"And even if I do, you think that will make me leave? Remus, I'm never leaving you behind. Why would I? I love you."

"I'm a fucking mess," Remus said and turned his back to Janus, who softly sighed. "Whatever I do, I always screw everything up... I didn't ask for this. I didn't ask to be hated. I didn't ask to be Intrusive Thoughts. I didn't ask to be the bad guy... I just... I just want to be accepted by someone."

"...You know what?" Janus said, getting Remus' full attention. "If I'm going to the light sides, you're coming with me."

Remus' eyes widened in surprise and he quickly wiped away some of his tears. He turned to face Janus. 

"Wh-what?"

"You heard me. If they can accept me, then they can accept you too. And there's no way I'm leaving you and T behind."

"Gee, emotional much?" the orange side suddenly popped up, startling Remus, but not impressing Janus. The snake side gave him a soft smile, "You know I care about you guys."

"Yeah, yeah," Tantalus smirked and walked closer to the two, trying to deal with his messy hair. His orange eyes met Remus', "As annoying as you are, you're our friend. Well, my friend. Don't need to rub it in that I'm single," he eyed Janus, then Remus, and the two exchanged glances and started laughing. 

The snake side planted a quick, but loving kiss on the Duke's forehead and said, "Virgil may have left, but we're a team. And we're staying united."

"And now you're borrowing Patton's enthusiasm and appreciation for team work? Geez, my guy, you're changing a lot," Tantalus joked, receiving a smirk from Janus.

"After all, I can" - Janus said, transforming into Patton for a hot second - "be him, if I please." He transformed back and Remus giggled. "Do Virgil, can you do Virgil?"

Janus smiled and transformed into the anxious trait, "What the fuck did you say about MCR, Roman?" he asked, and Remus started laughing, while Tantalus chuckled in the backround.

"Logan, do Logan!"

"Emotions. Disgusting thing, if you ask me," Janus said as Logan, and Remus cackled, falling over on the bed. 

"D-do-" Remus laughed, "d-do Patton again!"

"Nobody talks about my child like that," Patton!Janus said, receiving cackling from Tantalus and complete wheezing from Remus. Rage giggled and said, "Aight, can you do me?"

Janus obeyed the request with a playful smirk on his face, transforming into his friend and saying, "Okay, you guys have officially made me" - Remus joined in - "LOSE MY M A R B L E S!"

Tantalus laughed and Janus then turned to Roman, "Hello, wonderful citizens, and you, nerds - looking at you, Logan." The addition made Remus give a short wheeze and the Duke gave the last suggestion, "Me! Pfft, let's see!"

Janus nodded and turned into his boyfriend. "Fuck real food and drinks, eat and drink deodorant. Join my fucking cult, this is a threat." The real Remus and Tantalus laughed and Janus turned back to himself. The Duke embraced him in a hug, in which Janus gave in with a smile. The green side then gesticulated to their friend to join in, and so they formed a group hug.

"I'm never leaving you two, as annoying as you might be," Janus said, to which Remus smirked and Tantalus shortly giggled.
