Chapter Five
Elena opened the door to let in Damon and I. Jenna was having a barbecue today. Well, it was Damon's idea to get Mason here. Damon told Ric who brought it up with Jenna. I was invited by Jenna herself and Elena invited Caroline to keep her busy. So it was going to be a full party with hidden motives that everyone besides Mason, Jenna, and Caroline know about.
"Hey," Elena greeted, hugging me. I smiled and we talked a bit and she informed me that all the adults were in the kitchen. Stefan wasn't here and Caroline hasn't arrived yet. After that she said she needed to do something so I grabbed Damon's hand and shot him a warning look, "be nice."
"I'm always nice," he smirked, tugging me along to the kitchen where Ric, Jenna, and Mason stood around the counter, with short glassess in hand. "Hey," Damon smiled weakly as we entered the room.
Jenna and Ric turned around while Mason was drinking his shot. Jenna's smile instantly left her face, "Damon."
"We're just doing shots," Ric informed us. "Let me get you a shot glass, buddy."
"No, here," Jenna said, drinking her shot. "Use mine." Then she gave Damon the shot glasses and hugged me tightly. I greeted her nicely and then she left the kitchen. I looked at Damon and sighed.
Ric walked out after her and Damon put down his bribery pie on the table before walking towards Mason who held the liquor bottle. "She doesn't like me very much," Damon told Mason.
"We haven't met. Mason Lockwood," Mason introduced, putting out his free hand.
"Oh, sure, hey. Damon Salvatore," Damon replied, shaking his hand while I rolled my eyes.
"I know. Heard great things about you."
"Really? That's weird," I smirked.
"Yeah, because I'm a dick," Damon smiled and we high fived. I then left them alone and went to occupy myself in the living room, watching TV with Jenna. Ric went to go finish cooking outside on the grill. "Food's ready," Ric announced.
Everyone ended up in the dining area. I happily sat between Damon and Caroline. Mason sat across from me, smirking at me. It always made me uncomfortable to be around him. He always looked at me like that. Like what the fuck. The lunch went pretty well. A few chit chat here and there. Nothing too bad. Damon was on his best behavior.
After lunch we all gathered in the living room to play pictionary. Or whatever it was called. Damon stood infront of the easel, drawing something. I was just smiling at my best friend. He was so immature but it was so adorable seeing Damon have fun. Even if he was annoyed that no one was guessing his thing.
Right now there was a dog, probably a wolf actually since he's so subtle, and it was wearing a tutu. Damon looked stressed out trying to tell people what this was. I had no idea just because I didn't know the movie or whatever. Damon had the cap of the marker in his mouth and was doing wild hand gestures. Caroline and Jenna were so into this game.
Damon drew and arrow next from like the faceof the wolf to the tutu. And behind the tutu wearing wolf there were music notes. To be honest he wasn't that bad at drawing. I was impressed. I couldn't draw to save my life. "Dress. Ballerina," Jenna guessed as Damon colored in the tutu red.
"Puppy, puppy. Puppy with a tutu!" Caroline exclaimed.
"No, no," Damon groaned, gesturing his hand at the picture. I looked around to see the biggest grin on Alaric's face. Jenna was trying to guess again and was smiling too. "Okay, dog, hound, hound dog," Jenna tried again. "'You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog'."
