Adeline
Dinner with Margot and Tom is always an interesting experience to watch their personalities mold into one relationship. Tom was calm, quiet and observant. Margot could take charge and talk for days but the look of love in his eyes when she rambled was everything. I look over at Matteo and I think I finally have that.
Tom and Matteo hit it off after dinner and begin talking about sports and literature. The irony of those two subjects.
Elaine, Margot and I migrate to the living room with our glasses of red wine and begin badgering Elaine for all the gossip we missed.
"London is nice. Not a lot of hot men or girls. It was a let down." She mumbles, "But I have a flight to France in 13 hours so, we'll see!" Elaine smiled, "I'm so jealous. You two have guys that literally melt when they see you."
Margot rolls her eyes, "We have our arguments too."
"What she means, Margot argues and Tom nods until she shuts up and she's over it." I tease but she glares at me with an icy look that makes me laugh.
"What I mean is...... Not every relationship is perfect but if it's someone you love, it's worth fighting for." She explains.
"I leave and she's this relationship guru." Elaine snorts.
"We have a relationship section at my job and let me tell you, I could do her job better." She mutters, taking a sip of her wine. Of course Margot could, If Margot wanted to run for office, Margot would. That's just who she is but we wouldn't be the same without her. I don't think Tom would wither.
"So you and Italian St-" I cut off Elaine before even uttering those words.
"You and Matteo. It's serious?" She corrects herself.
"We said to each other we're all in. So...." I smile.
"A few months ago we would've been planning your wedding with Sebastian and now he's your half brother with a boyfriend, you're dating a man that was your mom's friend...." Margot shakes her head, "Now that's a novel you should publish."
I playfully smack her arm, "You and Tom are 7 years apart."
"Fair play. I never expected to like the professor while I was in college. In my defense, he wasn't my professor." She smirks.
Elaine laughs, "I'm going to miss you guys so much."
"We can FaceTime and text all the time. It'll be like we are there as well." I promise.
Margot agrees, "Absolutely and I will need details in case you decide to have a French paramour."
"You've been hanging out with Tom too much. You sound like a dictionary." Elaine snorts.
"Just because I work in fashion. I also know French and some Russian." She defends.
"What languages does Tom know?" I ask
"Too many. More than me. He knows French, Italian, Spanish, Old English and Latin." She shakes her head, "Nerd."
"Says the girl that named her cats Mr. Darcy and Lady Macbeth." I counterpoint.
"And you named your dog what?" She raises her brow.
"Luna Love good from Harry Potter and I stand by my choice." I defend.
"So I told Sebastian I would be there with him for the white party his parents host for moral support. He's coming out to them publicly and we're breaking it off officially" I explained, "Are you coming?"
