As I was leaving towards the shop I felt that feeling of being watched again. I looked around and didn't see anyone suspicious looking. I saw a couple walking on the opposite side of the street, and a elderly woman walking her dog. I started walking to my car when I heard a small noise coming from the bushes behind the shop, me having watched a lot of horror movies, decided to NOT investigate, instead I just sped walked to my car faster. Once I started driving home, I felt myself relax, made a mental note to go to the hardware store tomorrow to buy pepper spray, and maybe go to the shelter and get a dog, if I keep feeling like I'm being watched. Seeing as it was nearly 9, I called it a night and went to go get ready to go to bed, I went to the door and windows and made sure that everything was locked.
"Oh no!" I got up from bed, turned around and saw that I had forgotten to turn on my alarm and saw that it was 9, I had missed my first class and half of the second one. I quickly changed and ran to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I ran out my door and down the stairs, normally I would take the elevator but seeing as I don't have time I decided not to. Once I got to the school, I saw that I only had 5 minutes of class left, I ran through the courtyard and into the school hallways. Once I got to the classroom, it was too late and everyone was already packing up. I just walked to my next class.
The rest of the day went my smoothly, as I was walking towards my car I saw Dylan, having remembered that we have the same classes I went up to him and asked for the class notes. As I was walking closer I saw that he had his earbuds in. I went behind him to tap on his shoulder, he jumped. Dylan had taken out an earbud and turned around to see who had tapped on his shoulder. With a look of surprised he turn towards me, with questioning eyes. "Do you happen to have the class notes for the first ans second classes?" I asked him. "Sure, let me go into my car and get my bookbag." He said while opening the back door. He took out a notebook and handed it to me. "Thanks. I'll return the notebook tomorrow, when I get to class." I told him, I gave him a small smile and an unfamiliar emotion passed through his eyes. I thanked him again and started heading towards my car. I worked the night shift today at the shop, from 4 to 10. I decided to go to the hardware store and get that pepper spray I needed. On the drive there I saw made another mental note to go on Saturday to the animal shelter to get a dog, good thing that the apartments I live in allow animals. I pulled into the parking lot of the store and went inside. I saw looked around trying to find the pepper spray, once I found it I felt that feeling of being watched again. I turned around to head towards the register and saw a movement in the corner of my eye. Curiosity got the best of me and I went to see what it was. The aisle was empty. Shrugging I turned around and bumped into someone, knocking both of us onto the floor. We both decided to get up and dust themselves off the dirt. I looked up and saw that I saw brown, chocolate colored eyes. "June!" I ran to hug her, taking her by surprise. Once she looked at who it was a giant smile showed up on her face. "Alex!" she hugged tightly back. June was a childhood friend of mine, she was our neighbor, but moved away at age 12 to live with her mom, when her parents got a divorce.Once we both got out of the shock, we started walking to the cash register, catching up with our lives.
I learned that June had gotten her own place, she was engaged to her high school sweetheart. While talking, I turned around to pay for my pepper spray. We exchanged numbers and we headed out the door.
(What Alex didn't know was that the person who was watching her was sitting in their car watching her from afar.)
Once in my car, I headed towards my apartment. I had a weird feeling of being followed. One glance at the rear view mirror confirmed that it was the same car I had been seeing around. I slowly sped up, not fast enough to tell I was going faster but fast enough that I now had more distance between the car behind.
I took another glance at the rear view mirror and saw that I had lost the car, I continued to drive to my apartment, Glancing at the time on the dashboard and saw that it was 3:13. I had decided to get ready for work. Fast forward to the end of getting ready. I got to the shop, and saw I was there on time and headed towards the office to clock in. I saw that one of the previous managers had left a list of things that still needed to be done. Good thing there were 2 other people working with me today. So while they were working up front, I decided to stay in the office and do the list. A few dozen phone calls later and I was done.
The day went uneventful, Slowly everyone started leaving. By the time it was nine pm I was the only one in the shop. It was my turn to close the shop, while cleaning, I thought I saw someone standing in the corner, by the time I turned around, there was no one there. I let it leave my mind and continued to clean. When I finished it was 10 till closing, so I locked the doors and started turning off the lights. I gathered my stuff, and walked out the back door. Once locked I walked towards my car, I opened the door and when I was setting down my stuff on the passenger seat I saw that it had a neatly wrapped box sitting on it. I checked the back seats and once I saw it was cleared, I quickly got inside and closed the door, I locked the doors and turned on my car light. I looked outside to see if anyone was near but the lot was empty. I looked over towards the gift again, it was neatly wrapped in black wrapper with a light blue ribbon. I decided to drive home and open it in my kitchen.
Once home I set the gift box on the kitchen table and carefully open it. I didn't see a tag on the outside indicating who it's from. I finished talking off the black wrapper revealing a white box, I took off the lid and inside was a smaller box and a note.
'You're beauty is without a doubt breathtaking, I would love to one day call you mine. From D'
I carefully set down the note and opened the small box, inside was a gold plated necklace with the letter A. A bit creeped out, I put the necklace back into the small box and set it on my kitchen counter. I started working on my assignments and let the necklace and note slip my mind. Once I finished and got ready to go to bed, I thought back on my day, and couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.
