The next morning, as usual I woke up, got ready, fed Tony and headed over to the coffee shop to get a coffee and donuts, the feeling of being watched was still there, I guess it was too good to be true that the feeling would go away for good. As I started walking to class, I looked around and saw that everyone was in a sad mood, like a fog of sadness had been draped over everyone. I got closer to my group of friends, I saw that they were also in the same mood as everyone else. As I got closer Sam looked up from their phone and beckoned me over with their hand. "Have you seen the news?" They asked, "why, what happened?" I asked while watching them pull out their phone and open the new app. "Someone from our English class got killed last night." They said while showing me her phone.
As I looked at the picture, I saw a familiar face. Kate Mathews was her name, I had worked on a project with her once. We would talk once in a while. "Damn, I knew her, well not knew her to the point we were best friends but we would talk whenever we could. How did it happen?" I questioned. "She was walking back home from school, and someone pulled her into a close by alley and killed her, looked through her stuff and took all her money, a robbery gone wrong. It also says that the robber/killer took a piece of jewelry off her, a necklace with the letter K." Read Sam from the new article.
I didn't know how to feel about it. I felt sad, I felt like there was more to what happened then what was said in the article. The day passed with a gloomy feeling surrounding everyone. I went to lunch at the nearby cafe with Cynthia and went to the rest of my classes. As I was getting into my car, I saw a small gift, similar to the ones I always get but was small and it was color blue instead of black. Curiosity got the best of me, and I opened it. Inside was a gold necklace, I was about to close the lid when I noticed the letter on it, the letter s and bloody print on it. As I was internally freaking out, I looked towards my surroundings. Everyone was looking like they were minding their own business.
I also noticed another note at the bottom of the necklace. I didn't want to actually touch the necklace. I decided to call the cops. As I was waiting for the cops, I stepped out of my car and leaned against the back door. I saw the same detective I told about the stalking four months ago, stepping out of his car. "Detective Ramirez, I see that they sent you to check on the box, do you believe me now that the person who's doing this might be dangerous?" I asked. Having him deny and say that the stalker wasn't dangerous months ago, made me mad. Why couldn't he believe me the first time?
"I'll have to take a look at the box, can you tell me more about it? What it looked like before you opened it?" He asked. "Well, it looked exactly like the normal ones I get, but this time it changed, it is smaller and blue instead of the normal red and black. It also had a note in the bottom, but I didn't want to touch it. It might be the necklace that the robber/killer took off of Sarah Mathews. I saw that it had blood and it didn't want to touch it." Detective Ramirez nodded while taking notes. I saw that another cop car pulled up behind us.As detective Ramirez turned around to talk to the other cop, I looked at my surroundings and saw that everyone was now looking at what was happening in front of me."OK, so we are taking this box into evidence and do a DNA test on the blood to see if it is indeed Kate Mathew's." He said while putting on a pair of white gloves and getting the box and stuffing it into an evidence bag. As soon as I turn around to get back into my car, I hear a yell of my name. "ALEX!" I turn around and see that it's Cynthia jogging towards me. As she gets closer I close the car door and face her. She throws herself at me in a big hug. "What happened?" she asked as she let go of me. "So you know how I've been getting gifts and how Kate from English class got killed? Well, I think the person who's stalking me killed her, and took her necklace. Because I got it wrapped in a little blue box, that got left inside my car. So I decided to call the cops and they took my statement and took the tiny box into evidence."
Once I finished telling her everything that happened in the span of twenty minutes, she looked at me with a shocked face. " Do you want to go back to my place and stay the night?" I asked her. "Sure, after this I don't know if I want to leave you alone tonight." she said. We both said our goodbyes and got into our cars. As I was driving home, I called into work and explained everything that happened. Sarah was very understanding and new that I wouldn't be able to work without being a little paranoid at work all day. I got into my apartment building and locked the doors as soon as I stepped in my apartment. I went to my windows to check the locks and make sure they were also locked.
I looked at the clock and decided to wait until Cynthia got home. I went into my back and got my homework. Time passed so fast, I looked up from my homework and saw that 3 hours had passed, I felt like it was too quiet and decided to go look for Tony. After looking in almost every room, I went into my room and saw that he was under the bed. After taking him into the kitchen, I got his bowl and as I was serving him, I got a knock on the door. I looked through the peephole and saw that it was a florist delivery man, I opened the door enough to stick my head out and ask, "Yeah, what can I help you with?"
"Is this Alexandra Hughes?" he asked. "Yeah, that's me." I replied, "I got these flowers, they're for you. I'm going to need you to sign this." he said while handing me a clipboard. "Alright." I replied while signing the sheet. I took in the flowers and saw that it had a little note attached.
