After I heard footsteps walking down the hall towards Rose's room I was wondering who would have gone there.

It was the middle of the day, and my father and mother claimed to be busy since I came down for breakfast. They still seemed to be holding a grudge against me for bringing Christy with me and disappearing at the first opportunity that had presented itself. We had spend an extraordinary evening in each other's company. Sorry not sorry.

But no matter how hard I tried to distract myself I finally let my curiosity get the best of me. Who had come up here? When I pushed the door open silently I saw Rosie's sister sitting in the wing chair with the baby laying on her chest. They were both sleeping.

I grabbed the blanket and pulled it over both of them for I knew I always felt cold when I woke up from a nap with Rose on my arm.

Checking the time I remembered that Roses next meal was up in a few minutes. She would wake up and be so hungry she'd cry. So I went to the adjoining bathroom, where all the baby stuff was kept, and fixed her next bottle. While doing so, Dakota walked in.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm fixing her bottle. According to the time table Rose will be up and hungry in a few."

"I didn't know you were keeping track of her schedule. Are you sure you're not her dad? You can tell me the truth, I wouldn't tell a soul."

I ground my teeth. We've had this conversation countless times before. And that meant a lot, considering Rose had only been staying here for three weeks.

"You know I'm not."

"Well, you sure could be."

"Enough of this." I put the small bottle in the portable bottle warmer and walked back into Rose's room to place it next to the wing chair.

Not wanting to wake up Rose's sister and having to talk to her I made my way back to my room. What would you tell someone whose parents had just died? I had no clue and no intention of finding out.

I didn't even know her well enough to offer my condolence at the funeral. Trying to relax I thought back to my junior year of high school and I tried to figure out if we ever have had any classes together. I couldn't come up with a single one. I couldn't even see a mental picture of her ever sitting in the cafeteria. Maybe we were on different lunch breaks. Who knew? And who cared anyway?

She's a nobody. Not a popular girl at all. Not even a pretty one as far I just had seen. All dressed up as if it were a business meeting she was attending instead of spending time with her baby sister. Just looking at her huge glasses had given me goosebumps. And not the good kind.

Enough time wasted with thoughts over that nobody. I started my Xbox and played the new Call of Duty game I had waited forever to be released. I liked how I could get lost in it and hours could pass without me noticing.

Apparently that's exactly what happened since I only paused when I heard a loud shriek from downstairs. Someone was fighting in Dad's study. I hadn't even known we had business company over.

"What the heck, Douglas?", my mom yelled.

"This is sick", another female voice joined in.

"No, it's not. It's a business deal." The calm but Dad's loud voice deadpanned.

I got up from my bed and slowly walked downstairs.

"I don't need any of this. I will go get Rosie and we will leave this place", the female voice hissed. She didn't sound like a grown woman.
