Prologue

Whisky

"Okay ka lang?" I shook my head. Bria opened the door of her house and let me inside.

"He ditched me again." I said and covered my face with my hands. How fucking miserable.

"Di ka pa ba sanay?" Sabi naman ni Bria at iginiya na ako papasok.

"I think I'll never get used to feeling like shit, B." I honestly said to her.

She sighed and pour some wine of my flute glass. My friends are already settled with their families, while here I am barging into homes because I felt unworthy again.

"Then let him go. Boba. Basic lang 'yan. Kung masakit na, kung dehado ka na, tama na." I twitched a brow up at what she said.

"Talagang sayo pa manggagaling 'yang advice na yan?" Inirapan niya ako at umupo na sa tabi ko.

"Where's Victor?" I smiled bitterly at her and drank on my glass before answering.

"Ewan? Being the good guy again? He always have been like that. Simula college, hanggang ngayon. If I can only tell my stupid heart to beat for a much responsible person then I won't be here crashing in your house." Sucks to be me, I guess?

"Kung responsableng lalake pala ang hinahanap mo, pasok na pasok naman sa description si Mr. Philippines." She said.

"I know right, punyeta nasa kanya na lahat." Sagot ko sa kanya.

"What more can you ask? He has it all. Gwapo, matalino, may prinsipyo sa buhay, mabait, compassionate sa ibang tao, faithful pa. Sigurado naman akong ikaw lang ang babae sa buhay niya, Nicole." I chuckled at what she said. I think the alcohol is kicking in, I went to a bar first before going here.

"What more can I ask? His fucking time. Time, putanginang time 'yan." I laughed but I already felt the tears that are about to fall from my fucking eyes.

"You can't solve anything if you won't talk to him. Bakit kasi hindi mo sabihin sa kanya na gusto mong magkita naman kayo? Im sure he'll make time for you." Umiling ako kay Bria at uminom muli ng wine.

"Im not selfish, B. I can't steal his time whenever I want to. That just won't sit right with me. I know that he's handling important matters. Hindi naman biro ang trabaho niya." I felt that pang of pain in my chest again. Hindi kasi porke't naiintindihan natin, hindi na masakit.

"Relationships don't work like that. You need to communicate with him. Tangina naman, comm arts degree holder ka tapos hindi mo masabi sa boyfriend mong gusto mo siyang makasama?" She said while massaging the bridge of her nose. Inaantok na siguro siya, sabagay alas tres na ng madaling araw.

The wine doesn't seem to work with me, I need something harder. I stood up and looked for a stronger drink. Kinuha ko ang whisky na nasa mini bar ng bahay niya at iyon ang ininom. Ito ang kadalasang iniinom ng jowa ko eh, leche pati ba naman sa pagsesenti ko siya pa rin maaalala ko? Ang lupit nga naman talaga.

"It's not easy to ask for his time. Ni hindi nga kami official eh. Kasi sabi nga he wants to protect me, he wants to keep it private. Syempre pumayag naman ako kasi nga gets ko naman eh." Pinalis ko na ang luha na dumaloy mula sa mga mata ko.
