Sam's POV

To Sam,

I know this letter is short but it is just or you, I knew at some point you would come around, it's been a while. I only thought about calling you a hundred times

Oh and I know you had sent a couple of texts, but I never could bring myself to read them.

Not one!

What I need to know Sam is where were you when I needed somebody?

Where were you when the walls started caving in?

I was waiting for someone to save me that day at the mall when I was attacked!

Where were you? You were off with them, you left me with him!

A lot of things got pretty bad pretty fast but I never thought you'd turn your back!

You left me out there all alone hanging on and I guess I just have to deal with that

Why is it I can count on you when everything is easy?

But when the going gets tough I can't?

I had to find my own way and now that I've made it through I am heading to the states to stay with my dad for the the foreseeable future , I may be back, or I might stay. But I need you to know the truth, I need Josh to know the truth, please show him the photos I have left for you, and please tell him I loved him, I needed him and I would have fought for him but he obviously did not feel the same and for that I don't think I will ever forgive him.

Please tell him I hope he is happy with Karen and that I hope he found what he always wanted in life...true love.

Please don't tell him where I am, please ignore her lies and please don't forget me.

I want to find someone to blame, but sometimes life gets in the way and love is just not enough.

I will miss you and soon I will forgive you

From Riley xoxo

I gasped as I read and re-read the letter, fumbling with the second envelope I finally opened it and pulled out two photos.

Shit! Fuck! It was hard to ignore the horrid painful bruises that covered Riley's neck and chest. Flicking back to the letter I scanned through it till I found the part I had missed the meaning to

I was waiting for someone to save me that day at the mall when I was attacked!

Where were you? You were off with them, you left me with him!

Shit, she must have been attacked when I left her with Courtney's cousin, surely it wasn't by him, he was so sweet that night at the party, he was also unbelievably H.O.T. my mind was going at a thousand miles a minute as I grabbed my bag and left Riley's house. I had to speak to Craig, maybe he had some idea with what is happening.

And if he didn't maybe Josh or Parker did! I was getting to the bottom of it and the sooner the better.

No one touches my girl Riley and lives to talk about it!

I couldn't wipe the way Riley's once bright and happy eyes had been vacant and soulless when I saw her being driven away in a cab. I realised now why, she was lost in deep despair and I could only hope that her time with her dad would bring the old Riley home.

Sitting in my car with sad tears falling for what I now knew had happened to my closest friend and ready to drive to Craig's I looked towards Josh's house, I could see him and Karen at the front porch in what seemed to be a very heated conversation, and in saying heated I mean angry.

I jumped out of my car and made it in stealth mode down the path. Sneaking through his neighbour's yard I hid myself behind I medium sized hedge and tried to catch what was being said.

"Don't use that shit against me Karen" Josh spat glaring his icy eyes at her

"I don't care for your bullshit anymore, tell me why the fuck you are here!"

"Baby, we are together now, you know that you have to be with me or your ex-slut will see proof of what we did" Karen hissed waving her phone in front of his face. Josh stepped closer to Karen and bent his knees so his face would be level with hers.

"Proof, fucking proof of what?" Josh shouted

"Proof of how fucking sick you are, or is it proof of how you fucking set me up?"

"For fuck sake Josh, why the hell do you care what the proof is for, you saw the fucking picture, she fucking cheated on you!"

I snapped my head back as I heard Karen's accusations, even I knew Riley would never cheat, she was overly devoted to Josh. Then I remembered I hadn't looked to see what the other photo was of.

Pulling the folded letter and pics from where I had stuffed them in the back pocket of my jeans I unfolded the second picture and gasped loudly.

It was a pic Riley had printed off her phone, a picture of a message sent from Karen

Don't forget slut talk and he see's

Karen had sunk to a new low, even for her, the picture was of Riley and I knew it was when she was attacked because she was being held up against the wall of my favourite changing room in my favourite shop, trust me I practically lived in there!

The guy that had her was none other than the sweet, hot Parker.

"That fucking c**t" I cursed loudly, cringing at the fact I knew both Josh and Karen now knew someone was listening to them, I decided now would be a good time to confront the lying slag and the coward.

It was time for the truth to be known, why not kill two birds with one stone!

Riley's POV

The car ride to dad and Lynette's house was long and several times I dozed off to sleep only to have visions of Parkers evil eyes and Karen satisfied smirk, wake me up in fright. The trip seemed to go on forever and I was ready to just fall into a bed and sleep.

"Sorry Riley darlin' I know this trip seems to be so darn long, I guess your Ma never tol' you that we moved out to a nice ol' ranch"  Lynette said suddenly as if she had read my thoughts.

Looking into her eyes through the reverse mirror I sat smiled at her and wriggled in the seat trying to get a little more comfortable. Before long the city lights had disappeared and only the silhouettes of ghost trees and fields as far as the eye could see were all I could make out. When we turned off the road I was shaken as the truck started to go up an uneven dirt road.

Squinting out of the window I gasped in shock as we closed in on a beautiful Georgian manor. The lights on in most rooms lit it up like a Christmas tree. It was amazing, and I could not wait till I could see it in the daylight.

"Home sweet home"  Lynette smiled as she exited the parked truck once dad had pulled inside a large garage. Tilly bounced out of the truck and ran full speed to the door, she disappeared through it as I slowly dropped my tired body out of the back seat and stretched my arms above my head.

"Well darlin' let's get y'all settled in and then have a night cap hey"  dad said as he took me my suitcase from the tray and swatted my step mother on her backside. I nodded slowly and followed them both towards the house.
